Exciting Academic Collaboration Models Proposed by Steinbeis University, Germany at COMSATS University Islamabad
Islamabad: December 18, 2023 – Mr. Zaland Khan Khattak, Managing Director of Steinbeis University, Germany in his recent visit at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) on December 18, 2023 unveiled unique academic collaboration models with CUI. The meeting was attended by the International Office team including Dr. Hammad Omer, T.I., Head, Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Senior Manager, Mr. Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Senior Program Officer and Mr. Arif Awan, Senior Program Officer explored innovative partnerships between the two institutions.
The meeting explored innovative academic collaboration models proposed by the Steinbeis University, Germany with CUI. Among the highlights of proposed models were the affiliated/ delivery partnership model provisions of which are allowed under the existing transnational education (TNE) policy of Higher Education Commission (HEC). The other proposed models were a 1+1 program, offering a unique blend of online study at CUI in first year and then physical immersion at Steinbeis in the second year. Exclusive scholarships and recruiting initiatives were also proposed, featuring awareness sessions, pathways to admissions and a substantial 50% discount for CUI students for undertaking certificates and diploma programs.
These visionary models aim to reshape academic ties, introducing benefits such as hybrid teaching, faculty exchange and establishment of a German Centre, which Steinbeis University intends to establish at CUI Islamabad Campus.
Dr. Hammad Omer assured the possibility of thoroughly examining the proposed models. To facilitate this, he confirmed his commitment to convening an internal meeting involving key stakeholders of CUI to collectively address these pertinent models.
