Deakin University Australia Explores Academic Synergy with COMSATS University Islamabad
Islamabad, December 5, 2023 – A prestigious delegation from Deakin University (Deakin), Australia recently engaged in fruitful discussions with CUI’s International Office Team to explore collaborative opportunities. The delegation comprised Prof. Colin Higgins, Associate Dean of International and Partnerships in the Faculty of Business and Law accompanied by Mr. Campbell Jamieson, Former GM Commercial at the International Cricket Council (ICC) and currently working as a Professor of Practice for Sport Management at Deakin Business School. Mr. Sohaib Hassan, Country Manager (Pakistan) also joined the delegation for meeting held at CUI on December 5, 2023.
Deakin, renowned as ranked # 1 in the world of Sports Science, sent the delegation to CUI to discuss collaborative models. The meeting involved discussions on a transformative 2+2 program and potential research initiatives – a keen interest of the Deakin. Dr. Hammad Omer, T.I., Head International Office steering the dialogue from CUI side, highlighted that CUI is equally interested, however, the policy intricacies and internal reflections needed to pave the way for innovative collaborations model of 2+2. Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Senior Manager and Mr. Arif Awan, Senior Program Officer also joined the conversation.
Concurrently, Dr. Omer expressed CUI’s interest in research collaboration, and Prof. Higgins agreed to identify specific collaboration areas, particularly in research mapping and SDGs. Discussions also centered on potential collaborations in the mobility, semester exchange, online initiatives, and cooperative online international learning programs.
