Malaysian “Break the Pattern” Professor Visited COMSATS University Islamabad

Islamabad: October 11, 2022: Dr. Ahmad Rahman Songip, a Malaysian Volunteer Professor of Innovation Management at University Technology Malaysia (UTM) paid a courtesy visit to COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) along with his spouse Mrs. Anisah Binti Ali Jahn on October 11, 2022. Professor was welcomed by Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head, International Office accompanied by his team and Syed Uzair Alvi, In-charge, Career Development Center (CDC).

After conclusion of COMSATS’ lush green and clean Campus tour – arranged by the International Office – Professor Songip visited Junaid Zaidi Library. Mr. Hafiz Abdur Rehman, Head/ Senior Librarian apprised him about library systems, RFID, self-check systems and other physical/ online facilities available for students. He revealed that the library is the first one in Pakistan to deploy complete RFID solution for libraries.

Professor Songip subsequently called on Prof. Dr. Muhammad T. Afzal, Worthy Rector CUI in his office. Other participants from CUI who joined the conversation for this meeting were: Dr. Tahir Naeem, Director P&D/ HRD, Prof. Shamsul Qamar, In-charge Academics, Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head, International Office and Syed Uzair Alvi, In-charge, CDC. Professor Songip informed that he was on an official visit to Pakistan from October 6-13, and delivered a keynote address for a conference in International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). Professor briefed CUI officials that he is an author of his published book entitled, “Break The Pattern – The Science of Transformational Value Creation (2019)”. He presented one copy of this book to the worthy Rector and placed second copy in COMSATS’ library.

Based on this book, Professor Songip delivered an informative talk to the faculty members and graduate and final year undergraduate students of the Department of the Management Science of COMSATS Islamabad. During the talk Professor highlighted synopsis of his book and revealed that ideas are the currency of the current era of the mind and heart, but many struggle to generate creative ones. Organizations also struggle in transforming ideas into high value-added products and services. The speaker provided practical steps for organization in its transformational value creation journey from acquiring inspiration to execution of ideas. He introduced a new indicator called Key Pain-Point Indicators (KPPI).
