The ASME CUI Wah Chapter held its prestigious Annual Award and Cabinet Shifting Ceremony on May 30, 2025, marking a significant day of celebration, recognition, and leadership transition. The event honored the outstanding contributions of individuals who demonstrated excellence in engineering, leadership, sustainability, and student engagement, while also welcoming the new student leadership team for the 2025–2026 term.
The event commenced with inspiring keynote sessions delivered by prominent speakers. Mr. Sher Shah Khan, CEO of Skillistan, received the National Speaker of the Year Award for his compelling talk on leadership and perseverance. Ms. Mariam Mukhtar from Green Movers was honored with the Green Women Award for her impactful work in sustainability and women’s empowerment. Engr. Yasir Abbas received the Best Presentation Award for his technical depth and valuable insights shared with aspiring engineers.
In recognition of student excellence, several ASME Competitive Awards were presented:
- CAD Marvel Award – Mubashir Rehman, for exceptional CAD modeling and innovation
- Best Engineering Poster Award – Laiba Akram, for outstanding technical research and visual communication
- Engineering Achievement Award – Muhammad Haseeb Ahmad, for consistent engineering excellence
- Elevator Pitch Award – Moiz Anwar, for delivering a powerful and concise project presentation
- Women Achievement Award – Hisbah Fatima, for leadership and contributions as a female engineer
- Achievement Award – Fawad Ahmed, for dedication to ASME initiatives
- Articulate Speaker Award – Shawaiz Ahmad, for excellence in public speaking and communication
A certificate and prize distribution ceremony followed, recognizing outgoing cabinet members, volunteers, and active participants for their commitment and service throughout the year. These honors aimed to celebrate their impact and inspire the incoming cohort to strive for similar excellence.
The second part of the event featured the Cabinet Shifting Seminar, a formal transition of leadership. The seminar brought together faculty, outgoing and incoming members, and ASME mentors in a spirit of continuity and growth.
Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, Chairperson, Mechanical Engineering Department and ASME Mentor, delivered a visionary address highlighting the transformative power of engineering. “Innovation begins where imagination meets discipline,” he noted, urging students to integrate ethics and sustainability into their professional journey. Engr. Arsalan Hussain, ASME Chapter Advisor, encouraged students to use platforms like ASME to build leadership skills and professional identity.
The new cabinet for 2025–2026 was officially announced:

- Vice Chair: Abdul Moiz Hassan
- General Secretary: Ibrahim Shahzad
- Treasurer: Abdul Qudoos
This dynamic team pledged to uphold ASME’s values of technical excellence, innovation, and student empowerment. The event concluded on a high note, reflecting ASME CUI Wah Chapter’s role as a vibrant hub of engineering leadership and collaboration at COMSATS University Islamabad. With a new team at the helm and a legacy of achievement behind them, the chapter continues to inspire the next generation of engineers.
