The Departments of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, CUI, Wah Campus, jointly organized an industrial visit to the National Institute of Electronics (NIE), Islamabad on May 20, 2025, for second-semester students of BS Computer Engineering and BS Electrical Engineering.

The visit aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry practices. Students explored cutting-edge R&D facilities, including labs for PCB Design and Fabrication, Communication Systems, VLSI Design, Electric Vehicle Technologies, and other specialized areas.

This enriching experience allowed students to observe how theoretical concepts are applied in advanced domains like embedded systems, VLSI circuits, and automotive electronics. The visit was coordinated by Mr. Fasih Ur Rehman and Engr. Belawal Behram from the Department of Electrical Engineering, along with Engr. Ali Roman from the Department of Computer Engineering.

The department of Mechanical Engineering arranged an industrial visit for third semester 3A&3B undergraduate student to National Institute of Electronics (NIE), Islamabad on 2nd and 9th December 2021.

The students visited multiple state of the art Research and development labs that include PCB Fabrication Lab, Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Production Line, Power Electronics Lab, Communication Lab, Automation and Control Engineering Lab, Automotive Electronics Lab, Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Center, Center for Quality Testing and Certification and NIE Training Center.

National Institute of Electronics (NIE) is established as autonomous organization under the Administrative control of Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) for the promotion of electronics at national level. The institute is premier design and development organization and since its inceptions it has developed considerable expertise in the area of Digital Electronics, Power Electronics, Automation and Control, Computer hardware/software training.

At the end students had very fruitful interactive question answer session with experts of National Institute of Electronics (NIE) in which they have discussed multiple potential Final Year Projects. Students acknowledged the emergence of multidisciplinary stream and the importance of Automation and Electromechanical systems in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
