Chinese Delegation Explores Research Collaboration with COMSATS University Islamabad

Islamabad: November 8, 2023 – A delegation from the Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (CAAS), led by Prof. Dr. Mu Tai-Hua, Chief Scientist and Director, Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) accompanied by Prof. Dr. Sun, Prof. Dr. Mei, Dr. Shujaat Ahmad, Dr. Rizwan and Dr. Farman visited CUI on November 8, 2023. The visit was facilitated by Dr. Nasir Mehmood Khan, Head, Department of Agriculture, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Sheringal, Dir Upper, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During a formal meeting, key CUI participants included Dr. Hammad Omer, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Head International Office, Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Senior Manager, International Office, Dr. Sana Sabahat, Head, Department of Chemistry/ Tenured Associate Professor. From Chemistry Department, Dr. Abdul Raheem, Associate Professor, Dr. Zia ul Haq, Associate Professor, Dr. Aneela Malik, Associate Professor, Dr. Safia Zahid, Associate professor, Dr. Khizer Hussain Shah, Associate Professor and Dr. Saad Ullah Meer, Assistant Professor participated and engaged in constructive discussions.

Dr. Omer delivered a comprehensive presentation of CUI’s highlighting university’s significant milestones and achievements including international rankings. Following this, Dr. Sabahat presented an overview of the Department of Chemistry. The delegation also received a presentation by Prof. Dr. Sun, offering insights into CAAS and IFST highlighting institute’s achievements and research projects. The meeting featured productive discussions as the delegation and CUI counterparts explored potential collaboration areas and shared innovative ideas. Dr. Sabahat proposed opportunities for research project collaboration and student exchange programs.

The delegation toured the campus, observing and experiencing CUI’s cutting-edge facilities, including the Junaid Zaidi Library and the Synthesis Laboratory managed by the Department of Chemistry.

The visit served as a valuable platform for both institutions for collaborations and gain insights into ongoing and future research initiatives.
