Greetings from UNESCO Office in Pakistan!

 

We are delighted to announce that UNESCO Office in Pakistan has launched a MasterClass Series, an innovative and e-learning initiative to enhance access to advanced learning and promote educational excellence with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Pakistan. Inspired by the global UNESCO MasterClass Series, this initiative aims to shed light on the emerging challenges by bringing together experts and to share knowledge, drive innovation, and discuss solutions that can be leveraged for the needs and priorities of Pakistan. Through this series, UNESCO Office in Pakistan envisions creating a collaborative learning platform for students, faculty, and professionals, offering an interactive, dynamic space for idea exchange and cross-disciplinary learning. It will address topics such as sustainable development, inclusion, digital transformation, science and technology, ethics in Artificial Intelligence, and cultural heritage preservation — providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of global and local issues.

 

The first episode of the UNESCO MasterClass Series in Pakistan will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) , to explore Pakistan’s vision in leveraging AI for socioeconomic advancements. The discussion will delve into utilizing AI for beneficial uses and gauge interest of students to expand in AI-related academics. Through this episode, participants will have an increased understanding of Pakistan’s vision for AI to drive national priorities and achieve sustainable development goals. The participants will be exposed to the ethical and practical considerations involved in implementing AI in Pakistan and around the world. Along with offering valuable insights into leveraging AI for personal and professional growth equipping to catch up with new trends, this enriched understanding will empower academic communities to contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s vision for socio-economic growth through technological innovation.

An information session on Fulbright Scholarship Degree Program was organized by the COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) on December 4, 2024 at 12:30 pm at the Junaid Zaidi Library, Video Conference Room, Islamabad. The session focused on the Fulbright Scholarship Degree Program, specifically for MS and PhD studies. The guest speaker for the event was Mr. Rahat Karim, an education advisor for the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP).

During the presentation, Mr. Rahat Karim briefed the audience on the services offered by USEFP and provided an overview of the Fulbright application process, including the eligibility requirements for the scholarship. He emphasized the significance of the statement of purpose and highlighted that all applicants must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Additionally, he stated that the application deadline is March 5, 2025.

A good number of people attended this session and the participants keenly asked questions during the session. The participants acknowledged the usefulness of the information provided at the session.

This session was organized by the Directorate of Planning, Development and Human Resource Development.
