The inaugural session, informally referred to as the "Dhoodh Pati Session," was organized by the COMSATS Economics Society. We had the privilege of hosting Sir Usman Shakoor, a highly esteemed and respected figure known for his erudition and approachability. Sir Usman Shakoor's exceptional intellect and eloquent expression captivated the audience, resulting in active and enthusiastic participation from every student.

During this workshop, a thoughtful touch was added as tea was served to both our esteemed students and faculty members. This gesture added a warm and welcoming ambiance to the event.
Overall, the session proved to be a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.

The International Office CUI, in collaboration with British Council Pakistan organized a Student Awareness Session on "Studying in UK" on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Mr. Usman Khalid, Head of Higher Education Mobility, British Council Pakistan, Mr. Haroon Rashid, Education Programme Manager – Mobility (North), BCP, Mr. Jawad Khan, Education Programme Manager – Mobility (Punjab), BCP and Ms. Shahla Qayyum, Head of Chevening Department - Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Pakistan were the resource persons for this session. Upon arrival, the delegates were welcomed by Head, IO and were shown around the CUI campus and its facilities including the Junaid Zaidi Library and various academic blocks. They were then escorted to the International Center for a meeting where they were formally welcomed by Head and his team. During the meeting, ways of future collaboration and engagement activities were discussed.

After the meeting, the awareness session ensued in the Videoconference Room of Junaid Zaidi Library. The focus was on sharing information regarding a range of scholarships which are open to Pakistani applicants. This includes PhD, masters, post-doc fellowships. Mr. Usman Khalid, Head of Higher Education Mobility, British Council Pakistan, Mr. Haroon Rashid, Education Programme Manager – Mobility (North), BCP, Mr. Jawad Khan, Education Programme Manager – Mobility (Punjab), BCP and Ms. Shahla Qayyum, Head of Chevening Department - Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Pakistan were the resource persons for this session.

The resource persons shared valuable insights with the students. Topics covered in the session ranged from introduction to UK, to the main streams of scholarships, to the timeline, eligibility criteria, application pre-requisites, application process, selection process, funding and the duration of the scholarships. The session was choke full of students of 7th and 8th semester from all the departments of CUI targeting to get their Masters and PhD degrees from UK universities. The students were provided with step by step guidance in the session. Furthermore, the resource persons shared helpful tips, tricks, dos and don’ts for the potential applicants in good detail.

Head IO, Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, thanked the team of British Council for conducting this in-depth session for the students. Mr. Ali Tawab motivated the students to

capitalize these opportunities and encouraged them to visit the International Office website regularly, where similar scholarship opportunities are uploaded. He assured them of full facilitation and guidance from his office. In the end he appreciated the IEEE student society and his team for helping to organize this successful event.
