The Departments of Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering at COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus, jointly organized a faculty training session titled “Introduction to Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Bloom’s Taxonomy” on October 15, 2025, in the ECE Conference Room.

The session was conducted by Dr. Adeel Akram, who shared valuable insights on modern pedagogical approaches and their integration into higher education. The training aimed to enhance faculty understanding of the OBE framework, focusing on effective curriculum design, assessment alignment, and continuous quality improvement.

The trainer provided a comprehensive overview of OBE principles, highlighting the significance of well-defined Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs). He also demonstrated how Bloom’s Taxonomy supports the development of measurable learning outcomes aligned with appropriate teaching and assessment strategies.

Faculty members from both departments actively participated in interactive discussions, sharing challenges related to defining outcomes, mapping assessment tools, and maintaining constructive alignment. Dr. Akram offered practical guidance on addressing these challenges through structured rubrics, data-driven evaluation, and continuous improvement practices.

Over 20 faculty members attended the session, which concluded with a note of appreciation to Dr. Adeel Akram for his engaging and informative contribution toward strengthening outcome-based teaching and learning practices at CUI Wah Campus

The Department of Computer Engineering, COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus, organized a faculty training session on “Effective Assessment Design in Outcome-Based Education (OBE)” on October 15, 2025, in the ECE Conference Room. The session, conducted by Dr. Maliha Amjad, focused on developing outcome-aligned assessment strategies within the OBE framework.

The training aimed to enhance faculty understanding of designing assessments that effectively measure Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs). The speaker emphasized constructive alignment among teaching activities, assessments, and learning outcomes, and discussed both formative and summative assessment methods.

Key challenges such as assessment validity, fairness, and alignment between CLOs and assessment tools were also addressed. Practical strategies, including standardized rubrics, measurable performance indicators, and continuous feedback mechanisms, were shared.

More than 20 faculty members from the Electrical and Computer Engineering departments actively participated. The session concluded with appreciation for Dr. Maliha Amjad’s valuable contribution toward strengthening effective teaching and assessment practices.

2 Day Training Program on Koha Integrated Library System Organized on September 22 - 23, 2025 in CUI Islamabad

The Faculty Development Academy (FDA), COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) organized a comprehensive two-day training program on Koha Integrated Library System from September 22 - 23, 2025 in CUI Islamabad.

The training was designed to enhance the technical expertise and operational efficiency of library and IT professionals of CUI through hands on training on open-source library management platform. The participants of the training were library officials working in all campuses of CUI and IT professionals managing KOHA server/ software. 

The training program commenced with an inaugural ceremony featuring the recitation of the Holy Quran, setting a solemn and inspiring tone of the event. Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Incharge, FDA delivered a warm welcome address, highlighting the significance of the training in advancing the capacities of employees of library and IT departments. The training is in line with the vision of Rector CUI and FDA's ongoing commitment towards professional growth, development and capacity building of employees of CUI.

The resource person of the training was Mr. Ata-ur-Rehman, a distinguished specialist in Library Automation and Digital Systems, who brought a wealth of knowledge and practical insights to the participants. Over the course of two days, attendees engaged in interactive and  hands-on training that covered a wide range of functionalities within the Koha Integrated Library System.

This training aimed not only to familiarize participants with the technical aspects of the Koha system but also to empower them with the skills necessary to streamline and modernize library operations effectively. By integrating this advanced, open-source technology, the library professionals are better positioned to enhance resource management, improve user services and support the academic community more efficiently.

The Faculty Development Academy remains  committed towards continuous professional growth and capacity building of faculty, officers and staff of the  COMSATS University Islamabad.

Professional Growth & Academic Excellence – In-Service Training Program 2025, CUI Islamabad Campus, Aug 26-27, 2025

The Faculty Development Academy, COMSATS University Islamabad organized Excellence in Academia - In-Service Training Program 2025 of faculty members hired in 38th Selection Board of CUI. It was a two days intense training program starting from Aug 26-27, 2025 in CUI Islamabad campus. There were 15 participants of the In-Service Training Program 2025 from the Department of Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering of CUI Islamabad, Wah and Attock campuses.

The purpose of the training was to build capacity, enhance soft skills, knowledge, and competence of faculty members. The In-Service Training Program 2025 had eight (8) sessions of ninety minutes each. The topics of the training were; Introduction to Blooms Taxonomy and CUI Scheme of Studies, Preparing and Delivering Effective Lesson Plans, Effective Lectures, Testing and  Assessment, Out of Box Thinking,  Teaching in the 21st Century and Becoming a Reflective Teacher, Communication and Interpersonal Skills, and Emotional Intelligence and Stress Management.

The resource persons of the training sessions were; Dr. Muhammad Imran Shahzad, Chairman and  Tenured Associate Professor, Meteorology Department,  Dr Ayesha Inam, Tenured Associate Professor, Humanities Department, Dr. Haroon Ahmed Khan, Assistant  Professor, Computer Engineering  Department, Dr. Muhammad Asif Javed, Assistant Professor, Humanities Department, Mr Khursheed Yousuf, Ex- Director FDA and Dr Mumtaz Fatima Jaffery, Ex-Director, FDA.

The In-Service Training Program 2025 is the vision of the Rector CUI for the professional development and capacity building of faculty members of CUI. The certificates were awarded to the participants who successfully attended the training. A group photo was taken as a token of memory.
