Islamabad, October 10, 2023 — Dr. Oliver Görke, Chair of Advanced Ceramic Materials at Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin), Germany, visited COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) on October 10, 2023, to advance discussions on the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions.

The meeting saw the participation of key officials from both universities, including Dr. Hammad Omer, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Head International Office/ Tenured Associate Professor CUI, Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Senior Manager, International Office, and Dr. Asma Tufail Shah, Associate Professor, Interdisciplinary Research Center in Biomedical Materials (IRCBM), CUI Lahore Campus.

Dr. Omer welcomed Dr. Görke, providing an overview of CUI's vast academic landscape during a formal meeting. Dr. Görke, in turn, emphasized the significant presence of Pakistani students at TU Berlin and expressed the institution's keen interest in strengthening collaborative ties particularly in research with CUI. Dr. Shah highlighted the active collaboration between IRCBM and TU Berlin, dating back to 2016. Mr. Baloch provided insights into the collaboration process on activities, such as participation in conferences and other research prospects. Dr. Görke expressed TU Berlin's aspiration to deepen ties with CUI.

Discussions covered collaboration aspects involving the German Embassy in Islamabad, promotion of the German language at CUI and exploring collaboration in AI, CS, research topics, engineering science, commercialization of products and patents. Dr. Omer assured Dr. Görke of CUI's dedicated support in formalizing the MoU, actively pursuing Governmental approval to initiate collaborative activities promptly.

The visit concluded with a tour of CUI's campus facilities and mutual expressions of gratitude, setting the stage for a dynamic and fruitful partnership between CUI and TU Berlin.
