Islamabad: A delegation from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) England visited COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) on January 16, 2023. Mr. Mark Coddington, Global Projects and Policy Manager, Office of the Principal, accompanied by Mr. Nabeel Vehra, Regional Advisor (Pakistan), Global Engagement Office, Directorate of Marketing and Communications were received and welcomed by Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head International Office CUI. Subsequently, the delegation paid a call on the Rector CUI Prof. Dr. Muhammad T. Afzal.

Later, the delegation discussed possible collaborative options with CUI officials. Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Saqib Gulzar, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Mustafa Nawaz Shafqat, Chairperson, Department of Biosciences, CUI Islamabad Campus and Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head, International Office joined the conversation with the delegation about possible collaboration options between CUI and QMUL. Mr. Coddington highlighted that QMUL is a public research intensive university in England whose history dates back to 1785, with the founding of The London Hospital Medical College. QMUL’s has established, successful models of collaboration including 1+1, 4+1 and faculty mobility programs. He presented collaboration models for CUI students which included 1+1 (double degree program) and 4+1 through progression agreement program. For CUI faculty, the guests presented prospects of faculty mobility programs.

The delegation highlighted several benefits of 4+1 model for CUI students which included tuition fee discount, simplified application route, application support and enhanced channels of communication. The hosts suggested increase of discount for benefitting CUI students.
