The inaugural meeting of the Institutional Quality Circle (IQC) at COMSATS University Islamabad was convened on April 10, 2025, under the chairmanship of the Honorable Rector, Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar. The meeting took place in the main conference room of the Rector’s Secretariat and was attended in a hybrid format—both in person and online—by all IQC members. Participants included the Directors of all campuses, Deans of faculties, the Registrar, Treasurer, Director of Planning & Development, Head of ORIC, and two student representatives.

Following the opening remarks by the Chair, Dr. Bilal Ijaz, Incharge of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), delivered a presentation outlining the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) revised Quality Assurance Framework, titled Pakistan Precepts, Standards, and Guidelines (PSG-2023).

Key items on the agenda included:

• Approval of the committees at campuses and Principal Seat for Review of Institutional Performance and Enhancement (RIPE) by HEC and the Self-RIPE report.
• Approval of the process of Program Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement (PREE).
• Endorsement of Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) by the QEC under the Reviewing the Effectiveness of Quality Assurance and Accreditation Bodies (REQAAB) initiative.

The Quality Enhancement Cell of CUI successfully submitted the Yearly Progress Report data to the Higher Education Commission on provided templets with complete Annexures / Folders and supporting documents.

This year the Yearly Progress Report data included Self-Assessment Reports of Academic Programs, Self-Institutional Performance Evaluation based on University Portfolio Report, MS/PhD Program Review, and other relevant information of CUI seven Campuses for FY 2019-20 and 2020-21.

With the dedication and efficiency of entire QEC team, the data was submitted within the given deadline. InShaAllah, it is expected that CUI shall achieve 90% and above score in the evaluation for submitted Yearly Progress Report this year also.

Mr. Fayyaz Hussain, Additional Registrar assumed the charge of QEC on August 24, 2020. Earlier he was working as Incharge HR section CUI Principal Seat Islamabad. Mr. Hussain is the pioneer member of Registrar Office, who was involved in the establishment of Quality Enhancement Cell at CUI.
