Seminar: “Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing): Emerging Opportunities for Microwave Components”

 Date: Monday, May 5, 2025
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Venue: Conference Room, Junaid Zaidi Library (Basement), COMSATS University Islamabad
?? Speaker: Prof. Cristiano Tomassoni, PhD, IEEE Fellow – University of Perugia, Italy

The Department of Physics at COMSATS University Islamabad recently hosted a captivating seminar on one of the most transformative technologies of our time—Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing). The session was led by none other than Prof. Cristiano Tomassoni, an internationally renowned expert in RF and microwave engineering and an IEEE MTT-S Distinguished Microwave Lecturer (2024–2026).

In his talk titled “Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing): Emerging Opportunities for Microwave Components,” Prof. Tomassoni explored how 3D printing is reshaping the landscape of high-frequency device design and advanced fabrication. With real-world examples and forward-looking insights, he demonstrated how this technology is opening new frontiers in:

  • ?? Microwave and RF component development
  • ?? Materials science and advanced manufacturing techniques
  • ?? physics and embedded systems

Attended by faculty, researchers, and enthusiastic students, the seminar provided a dynamic platform for academic engagement and technical discourse. From novel geometries in waveguide fabrication to cost-effective prototyping in high-frequency systems, Prof. Tomassoni's presentation highlighted the cutting-edge interplay between engineering innovation and scientific research.

A Word of Appreciation

We extend our sincere thanks to Prof. Cristiano Tomassoni for delivering an inspiring and thought-provoking session that not only deepened understanding of emerging technologies but also sparked new ideas among attendees.
