The ASME Students Chapter of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus, organized a seminar on "AI in Engineering and Scholarship” on February 27, 2025." The event explored AI's growing role in engineering and research, featuring keynote speaker Muhammad Umar Elahi, a Graduate Research Assistant at Dongguk University, South Korea, specializing in AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning. He discussed AI's impact on industries through predictive modeling, automation, and smart decision-making while also offering guidance on securing international scholarships for postgraduate studies.

Engr. Arsalan Hussain, Lecturer/Convener, DCDC coordinated the event. The event concluded by presenting a souvenir to the guest speaker with a vote of thanks by Dr. Arslan Ahmed, Head, Mechanical Engineering Department. The department continues to promote knowledge-sharing and equip students with advanced skills for future engineering and research advancements.

Hybrid Seminar on “CUI Sustainable Supply Chain Management” Held at CUI

The International Office at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) hosted a hybrid seminar on “Sustainable Supply Chain Management” on Thursday, February 27, 2025. The seminar, attended by students and faculty from the Department of Management Sciences, featured Dr. Tahira Abdullah, Assistant Professor at South Champagne Business School (SCBS), France.

The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by opening remarks from Dr. Hammad Omer, T.I., Head of the International Office. Dr. Omer emphasized the importance of international collaboration, stating, "This event marks another step in our commitment to internationalization, as we continue to foster global partnerships for shared growth." He outlined the International Office's role in facilitating student exchange programs, scholarships, and awareness sessions, noting that such opportunities are regularly updated through official CUI channels, including social media platforms.

Dr. Tahira Abdullah’s lecture provided insightful perspectives on sustainable supply chain practices, focusing on the challenges and opportunities in the field amidst global disruptions. She covered key areas of supply chain management, supply chain operations, sustainable development, green transition, sustainable supply chain, circular economy, circular supply chain, and doughnut economics. With extensive research on sustainability, circular economies, and supply chain management, Dr. Abdullah offered a wealth of knowledge and strategies relevant to the ever-evolving landscape of supply chain management.

Dr. Agata, an Associate Professor at the Management Science Department of Warsaw University of Technology, Poland, also attended the event. She is visiting CUI under the Erasmus+ staff mobility program. Dr. Agata, a researcher on cultural exchange, spoke about key elements of organizational wisdom, explaining how sharing of ideas, cooperation, communication, and values can lead to solutions for organizational wisdom, which is linked to sustainability and the circular economy.

The seminar concluded with a brief Q&A session. This event underscored CUI’s ongoing efforts to promote global exposure, capacity building, and collaborative learning for its academic community.

A seminar on Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test was arranged on November 22, 2024. The venue for the event was COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Islamabad Campus.

The seminar aimed to familiarize participants with the various sections of the GRE General Test. It was conducted by Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh, a Fulbright Scholar, nominated by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) to conduct the session.

The workshop began with a recitation from the Glorious Quran. Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh presented an overview of the GRE test and covered sections on Verbal Strategies, Verbal Reasoning, and Analytical Writing, among others. He also briefly discussed the Quantitative Strategies, Comparison Strategies, and Reasoning Strategies of the GRE test.

A good number of participants attended the workshop. The participants acknowledged the usefulness of the information provided at the session.

This event was organized by the Directorate of Planning, Development and Human Resource Development.
