The Department of Biosciences at erstwhile COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) was established back in 2003 with an aim to establish a School of Biological Sciences. With a humble beginning with a few students, the department of Biosciences now have more than 1500 students. Since its inception, the department has grown exponentially in terms of number of offered programs, qualified faculty members, BS, MS and PhD students and research publications. Currently, we have over 86 faculty members; out of which 80 are PhDs, while the rest are MS/MPhil qualified. Most of these faculty members are alumni of world's top-class universities. This program is becoming very popular in the country and will fulfill the future needs of Pakistan in this very important field of study. In addition to the BS program the department has started MS/PhD programs in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Virology and Developmental Biology. For all these programs we have a highly qualified faculty consisting of more than 86 members of which 80 have PhD's and are actively involved in research in different domains of Biosciences.

The History
The Department of Biosciences was established a few years back at the COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Islamabad Campus. The department started with the BS Bioinformatics program in 2003 and currently has more than 125 students. This program is becoming very popular in the country and will fulfill the future needs of Pakistan in this very important field of study. In addition to the BS program the department has started MS/PhD programs in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Genetics and Developmental Biology.
For all these programs we have a highly qualified staff consisting of more than 86 members of which 80 have PhD's and are actively involved in research in different domains of Biosciences.
