Program Overview
A Master of Science (MS) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is a graduate-level program that focuses on providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, techniques, and applications of biochemistry and molecular biology. Our MS program typically spans two years (4 semesters) but can be extended up to a maximum of 4 years (8 semesters). The program is designed to prepare students for advanced research positions or to pursue higher education (PhD) in an internationally competitive environment. Besides that, the graduates are well trained to be consumed in academia and industry at local and international levels. The MS program offers a rigorous curriculum that covers core topics in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, and related disciplines. Students gain a strong theoretical foundation in these areas, learning about the structure and function of biological molecules, cellular processes, genetic regulation, and molecular techniques commonly used in research. Our MS program is very well in line with international standards and fulfills the objective of producing skilled human resources in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Entry Requirements
- BS degree (16-year education) in the relevant field is required.
- Candidates should not have third divisions in their academic careers.
- A CGPA 2.5/4 in semester system and first division (60% marks) in annual system.
- NTS GAT General with 50% marks or above.
Research Opportunities
Students are offered independent research projects for a minimum of two semesters (1 year) to transform them into early-stage researchers. We focus mostly on inculcating in them the essence of designing; executing, analyzing and reporting their research ideas to enable them carry out their independent projects in the future.
Career Prospects
Our graduates are doing tremendously well in academia and research. Many of our students have joined the world’s best research groups to pursue their career in science. Many have joined industry and a huge number is performing well in academia both at national and international level.
Scholarships offered
Admitted students are offered a range of different merit as well as need-based scholarship opportunities from the higher education commission of Pakistan. In some funded projects of different faculty members, generous scholarships are also offered to the admitted students based on merit and their academic achievements.
