Message from the HOD

Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the COMSATS University Islamabad-Sahiwal Campus, where we provide our students with a conducive learning environment enriched by a group of dedicated faculty and staff. We offer our undergraduate students a PEC accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with an opportunity to work in different technology-based industries. A distinguishing feature of our program is that we strive to ensure that all our undergraduate students have a strong academics, good teaming, and leadership skills. The active involvement in student activities, the practical background of co-op and internship experience are an essential part of the learning experience. We believe that emphasizing these areas make our students well qualified to take leadership roles.

Department of Mechanical Engineering also offers a strong graduate program in Mechanical Engineering. Our Master’s students are provided numerous opportunities to give technical presentations in courses and on their research. All graduate students are also expected to publish their research in relevant peer-reviewed international journals. In addition to educate our students, the faculty members are actively pursuing exciting research in many areas i.e., manufacturing, renewable energy, advance d materials, and thermo-fluids. In many ways, these scholarly pursuits are aimed at supporting the state by developing technology solutions to societal needs.

We review our courses and curriculum on a regular periodic basis to keep it aligned with the current global industrial requirements, and research trends. Although, we are diversifying our approaches in response to the recent pandemic, our mission and goals have not changed. Apart from a few courses, we are offering our students in-person learning experiences this Fall and are committed to providing our students with the best possible educational environment.
