Main Topics which are covered given below

      1. Controller design
      2. Controller tests on the model
      3. Controller implementation in real-time applications
      4. Implementation of various control strategies
    2. Functional Profile:

The functional profile of the lab is given below:

Overview of Controls and Simulation Lab:
      1. DC-Motor:

The Quanser Engineering Trainers for NI ELVIS (QNET) DC Motor Control Trainer is designed to illustrate the fundamentals of DC motor control by configuring motor position and speed, parameter estimation, and control of a haptic knob. Using QNET hardware-in-the-loop implementations, engineering students can complement their laboratory work with hands-on, practical experience in the important aspects of engineering practice, which spurs student interest and motivation.

      2. Rotary Pendulum:

The Quanser Engineering Trainers for NI ELVIS (QNET) Rotary Inverted Pendulum Trainer gives students the ability to experiment with classic pendulum control challenges. By designing a control system that balances a vertical rod at the tip of a rotating arm, students gain intuition on control topics such as system modeling, parameter estimation, balance control, linear-quadratic regulator (LQR) design, nonlinear swing-up control, and energy-based design. The plant features a DC servo motor, built-in power amplifier, and optical encoders to sense the position of the pendulum.

      3. Control system Lab Research:

Taking advantage of the NI ELVIS pedagogical platform, DC Motor has developed six (6) specialized plants with the necessary experiments to teach controls topics throughout an engineering course. Each of these add-on boards plug directly into the NI ELVIS and transform NI ELVIS from teaching circuits and taking measurements, into an effective controls platform.

Using QNET hardware-in-the-loop implementations, engineering students can complement their laboratory work with hands-on, practical experience in the important aspects of engineering practice, which spurs student interest and motivation. QNETs for NI ELVIS provide the components educators need to set up their control design, simulation, mechatronics/optics, dynamics, or thermodynamics lab.
