CPD seminar on “Performance evaluation of hot mixed asphalt through modifiers”,

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a CPD seminar on “Performance evaluation of hot mixed asphalt through modifiers”, on November 24, 2022. Head, Civil Engineering Department, CUI Wah Campus welcomed the guest speaker, Engr. Dr. Ghulam Yasin, Assistant Professor/Head, Department of Civil Engineering at MY University. He has a PhD degree in Civil Engineering from UET Taxila with a research focus on the “Performance Evaluation of Aged Asphalt Binder through Rejuvenators”. Dr. Ghulam Yasin holds 10 years diversified experience in construction, design, consultancy, research and teaching in the field of civil engineering with specialization in transportation engineering.

Asphalt pavement is the most popular type of roadway pavements, widely used around the world. Various attempts had been made to incorporate asphalt mixture performance testing into the mixture design process. The guest speaker focused on the performance-based evaluation of asphalt concrete at different environmental and loading conditions. To this end, this event presented the cracking and rutting potential of field cores obtained from the routes across M-2 motorway using modern mixture performance tests. Asphalt mixtures from the selected sections contained a wide variety of recycled materials, additives and virgin binder grades. This allowed for distinguishing good and bad performers and developing strategies to further boost their performance. At the end the CUI Wah Campus souvenir was presented to the guest speaker. The seminar ended with a vote of thanks.
