The Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering jointly organized a two-day hands-on workshop, "Mastering Hardware and PCB Design," on February 20–21, 2025. The workshop aimed to equip participants with practical skills in electronic circuit design and PCB development, blending theoretical concepts with hands-on activities to bridge the gap between design and real-world application. Designed for students, engineers, and professionals in hardware development and embedded systems, the workshop covered a step-by-step approach to PCB design, including schematic capture, layout techniques, component selection, design optimization, and manufacturing considerations.

Engr. Abdullah Khan, the resource person, holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus. With prior experience as a Technical Support Engineer at PLC Group Canada, he has been serving as a Hardware Design and Verification Engineer at Signatics Solution Pvt. Ltd. for the past two years.

The workshop addressed key challenges in modern electronic design, such as signal integrity, EMI reduction, thermal management, power distribution, debugging techniques, and industry best practices for cost-effective prototyping and mass production. Following are the key highlights of the workshop:

  • Hands-on Skill Development: Practical experience in PCB design, layout optimization, and prototyping.
  • Best Practices & Problem-Solving: Strategies for overcoming common design challenges.
  • Efficient Prototyping & Manufacturing: Cost-effective design and preparation for large-scale production.
  • Industry Insights & Career Growth: Exposure to real-world applications and career guidance.
  • Collaboration & Innovation: Encouraging teamwork and creativity in electronic product design

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a souvenir exchange by Prof. Dr. Nadia Nawaz, Chairperson, Computer Engineering Department, and Dr. Sajjad Ali Haider, HoD.
