Islamabad, September 19, 2023: Mr. Christopher Gibson, International Officer, University of Manchester (UoM), United Kingdom visited COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) on September 19, 2023. The delegation met with Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Senior Manager International Office and his team.

The meeting commenced with illuminating presentations on the respective institutions, underlining their distinct strengths and academic prowess. Mr. Gibson, during his presentation, delved into the minutiae of postgraduate degree fees and funding opportunities, encompassing tuition fees, the Bicentenary Global Futures Scholarships, British Council Scholarships, and British Chevening Scholarships.

A pivotal highlight of the meeting involved an exploration of potential avenues for collaboration and partnership between the two esteemed universities.  The prospects explored were in particular the arrangement of awareness sessions, preferential pricing initiatives by UoM, international internship opportunities within Pakistan and at UK facilitated by UoM's partners, collaborative joint PhD programs, high-level faculty interactions, access to Erasmus funding, formalized instruments of collaboration and faculty exchange programs.

Mr. Baloch inquired about the feasibility of fee discounts for CUI students for studying at the University of Manchester, with a particular emphasis on Master's and PhD tuition fee reductions, which Mr. Gibson assured he will take it up with the UoM for provisioning such arrangements.

The meeting concluded on a promising note with both institutions keenly envisioning a mutually beneficial collaboration that will enhance academic opportunities and global perspectives. Mr. Gibson also visited academic facilities of CUI Islamabad campus.
