2nd Meeting on Upper Indus Basin Network (UIBN) – Pakistan Chapter
The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) jointly organized 2nd meeting of Upper Indus Basin Network (UIBN) Pakistan Chapter on January 11, 2022 in Islamabad. UIBN is a voluntary informal knowledge and adaptation research network of national and international researchers working in the basin. It aims to foster coordination in research related to climate, cryosphere, water, hazards vulnerability and adaptation. Members from many national and international organizations, including NGO’s attended the meeting. Dr. Athar Hussain Head and Dr. Umair Bin Nisar Lecturer, CCRD represented COMSATS University Islamabad in the meeting. The technical working groups (TWG) on six different thematic areas presented progress of their respective group. All participants also appreciated the leading role of Director General Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) as outgoing Country Coordinator of Upper Indus Basin Network Pakistan Chapter. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Chairman PCRWR, was elected as a new Country Coordinator of UIBN Pakistan Chapter.
