The Department of Art and Design of COMSATS University Islamabad is thrilled to invite you to the much-anticipated Thesis Show 2023 of the 11th batch of Bachelor of Design students along with the very first batch of Bachelor of Fine Arts graduates. This year's show promises to be a vibrant display of creativity, critical thinking, and social consciousness as our talented graduates present their thought-provoking projects. With a diverse range of topics, the show encapsulates the commitment of our department to nurture innovative minds and address pressing societal issues. The 20 B.Design students and 8 B.Fine Arts students of FA-19 batch have embarked on a remarkable journey, delving into subjects that resonate with the challenges faced by our society today. From exploring the intricacies of women's rights within the institution of marriage to unravelling the enigmatic origins of human creativity, these projects epitomize the power of design to engage with pressing social and cultural debates. The dedication and passion exhibited by our students in researching and developing their theses is a testament to their intellectual growth and their desire to make a meaningful impact. One also cannot overlook the profound significance of the projects that shed light on the pressing environmental issues faced by our nation. Among many important issues being discussed by the B. Design, one is about exploration of water conservation issues in Pakistan highlights the urgent need for sustainable practices and responsible water management. Additionally, the commitment to promoting and recognizing marginalized Pakistani communities echoes our university's commitment to fostering inclusivity and social justice. Through their creative endeavours, these graduates challenge conventional narratives and advocate for the voices that often go unheard. We are very excited to present our very first batch of B.Fine Arts graduates. It is a result of years of preparations and hard work by the institute and department where we had to face all challenges and difficulties that a new program must face. Our B.Fine Arts students enjoy much more prolific and artistic exploration into serious topics such as a dystopian look at socio-economic situation of the world, the deep and emotional connection between a mother and her daughter. As we present this grand showcase, CUI and Department of Art & Design extend our deepest gratitude to our esteemed faculty members who have tirelessly mentored and guided these students throughout their academic journey. Their expertise and dedication have played an integral role in shaping the intellect and creativity of these budding designers and fine artists. We also express our heartfelt appreciation to the students' families and friends, whose unwavering support has contributed to their success. The Art and Design Thesis Show 2023 promises to be an exhilarating visual celebration of innovation, critical thinking, and social awareness.
