People in Pakistan are facing issues regarding their marriages and divorces. Many of these problems could have been avoided if people had basic awareness of the laws that govern them. Pakistanis generally lack knowledge about the most important document they sign in their lives: the Nikah Nama. As a result, couples are often uninformed about its provisions, making it impossible for them to know their rights and responsibilities outlined in it. Additionally, the topics of mahr and divorce are considered taboo to discuss. However, Islam has granted both men and women the freedom, rights, and full consent to marry as they wish, as approved by the country's national laws. To ensure these rights and protections, it is necessary for everyone to have knowledge and awareness about these crucial contracts. The purpose of this thesis is to educate people on numerous legal matters that affect marriage and divorce laws in Pakistan.
