The 18th meeting of the Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASAR) of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) was held on May 27, 2014 at Islamabad Campus. The meeting was chaired by Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi, S.I., Rector CIIT and attended by Deans of Faculties, Registrar, nominated eminence scholar; Prof Dr Iqbal Choudhry, Director, HEJ Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi and Prof. Dr. Arshad Ali, Principal SEECS, NUST, Islamabad, nominated Professors; Prof. Dr. Aslam Noor, Department of Mathematics and Prof. Dr. Shahid Khattak, Department of Electrical Engineering. The Controller of Examinations, CIIT; Head, International Office, Advisor, Office of Development, CIIT; General Manager (Research Development), RIC and Additional Treasurer (Principal Seat), CIIT also attended the meeting as special invitee.

The BASAR reviewed the implementation status of decisions made in its last meeting including the graduate rules and regulations for 2014-2015. The research activities of MS/PhD Scholars, advanced studies and external examiners appointment (local and foreign) for existing and upcoming graduates of 2015-2016 were also deliberated upon and recommendations made thereon. The guidelines to augment advanced studies, graduate scholarships’ program, interdisciplinary research, graduates’ admissions, national and international linkages were also thoroughly focused by the members.
