Program Overview

“BS Accounting and Finance” blends together accounting and finance in business organization. This program aims to produce high quality graduates who are both critical and innovative. It would further aim to produce high technical skills as well as well-developed and polished decision making and problem solving skills. The program will be structured around four core areas of Accounting, Finance, Business and Economics.

  • Accounting:Financial and management accounting will be studies from a local as well as international perspective. Courses like taxation and auditing will also be offered to give the graduates an insight in to the accounting practices.
  • Finance:A thorough understanding of principles of corporate finance, financial institutions and investment will be provided so that the student can adapt themselves to the ever evolving financial markets.
  • Business and Economics:A complete understanding of the principles of business will be developed by studying such subjects as marketing, management, communications and information technology.

At the moment the Accountancy and Finance industry is experiencing a severe shortage of experts and trained workforce, which is resulting in shortage of qualified personals in both Accountancy & Finance in Pakistan and the world at large. This program would help to form the basis for collaboration and support by closely working with the certification bodies. The department is trying to take exemptions from ACCA, ICMA and CIMA for the graduating students of this program, by which the students will only have to appear in few modules to get another certification. Another benefit of this program would be the acquisition of a university degree as well as the certification form reputed body.

Special features and objective

A primary objective of this degree is to develop knowledgeable and capable executives to move quickly to key positions in the financial/accounting services sector and to demonstrate the skills necessary to tackle problems within the complex world of international finance and accountancy. Also it is to prepare and implement findings directed at the evaluation of corporate, market, investment and risk management situations. Following are the key objectives.

  • A systematic understanding of knowledge in accountancy and finance and provision of interface between the knowledge and practice.
  • A critical awareness of current problems and new insights in Accountancy and finance.
  • A comprehensive practical understanding of the techniques of enquiry and research used in the sector, and of how they are used to create and interpret knowledge

This program prepares them to proceed onwards to a more targeted certification program in Accounting and Finance along with other program of business administration & management sciences.

Admission and Eligibility

Session: The program is offered in Fall (September) and Spring (February) Session

Qualification: Intermediate or equivalent (‘A’ Level) with minimum 50% marks from accredited institution is required for admission in BS(AF) program.

Test and Score: NTS-NAT test score with minimum 50% marks.

Duration & Semesters: The minimum duration for the completion of this degree is eight semesters (04 Years) and a maximum of twelve semesters (06 Years). The degree will be awarded on completion of minimum 135 credits with a CGPA of at least 2.0/4.

  • Demand Draft in favor of CUI Islamabad from any bank.
  • MATRIC / O-Level mark sheet certificate & Equivalence, (photocopy back to back).
  • FA/FSc / A-Level mark sheet, certificate & Equivalence (photocopy back to back).
  • Copy of NIC / B form.
  • Valid NTS Result (photocopy) [if test already given].
  • Paid original copy of NTS Challan Form, [if NTS test not given].
  • Hope Certificate/Affidavit (To be notarized on Rs. 20/- Stamp Paper) mandatory for result awaiting applicants only.
  • Undertaking (To be notarized on Rs. 20/- Stamp Paper) mandatory for all applicants.
