International Postgraduate Research Scholarships at University of Melbourne in Australia, 2015-2016

Introduction:

University of Melbourne awards 35 new international postgraduate research scholarships (IPRS) each year for international students. IPRS is funded by the Australian Government and awarded to international students wishing to undertake graduate research degree studies at the University. These scholarships for international students cover full tuition fees for each year of the course and provide the annual Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). Selection will be based on the eligibility criteria and academic merit. Applications should be submitted till 31 may 2015.

Course Level: Postgraduate research degree studies at the University of Melbourne.

Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded in all subjects offered by the University of Melbourne.
Eligibility: To be considered for the IPRS, you must:

  1. Be an international applicant (ie. a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand, and not an Australian permanent resident) and meet international student visa requirements;
  2. Have completed tertiary studies that are at least equivalent to a 4-year honours degree at an Australian university with a minimum result of first class honours;
  3. Have applied for admission to undertake masters by research or doctorate by research degree at the University of Melbourne;
  4. Not be enrolled in the course for which you seek scholarship.
  5. Have not already completed a research qualification at the same or higher level as the course for which a scholarship is sought.

Grant(s): The IPRS provides:

  1. Full cost of tuition.
  2. Overseas Student Health Cover for you and your dependants, if they join you in Australia on a student visa. In addition, successful candidates receive an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) which provide for the following benefits:
  3. A fortnightly living allowance.
  4. Relocation grant for students moving to Melbourne from interstate or from outside Australia.
  5. Thesis allowance.
  6. Limited paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.
