The Department of Civil Engineering at COMSATS University Islamabad, Wah Campus, organized a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar on “Variation Orders as per FIDIC Conditions of Contract” on October 8, 2025.

Engr. Sadaqat Hussain, Senior Civil Engineer at National Engineering Services Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited (NESPAK), was invited as the guest speaker. He was warmly welcomed by Dr. Hassan Ashraf, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering. With over a decade of professional experience in construction engineering, project planning, technical specifications, and design coordination across large-scale infrastructure projects, Engr. Sadaqat brought a wealth of practical insights to the session. He is also an alumnus of CUI Wah, having completed his Master’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2025.

During the seminar, the speaker elaborated on the application of FIDIC contract conditions, particularly within the context of the FIDIC Red Book, emphasizing their importance in risk management, variation handling, and contractual administration in construction projects.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively engaging in a productive Q&A session, seeking clarity on real-world implementation of contractual procedures.

At the conclusion of the seminar, HoD, Civil Engineering, Dr. Hassan Ashraf presented a CUI Wah souvenir to the speaker as a token of appreciation, followed by a vote of thanks
