Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program 2026-27

?The Higher Education Commission (HEC) invites applications from Pakistani/AJ&K nationals for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme (2026-27), launched by the Hungarian Government for Bachelors, One-Tier Masters (OTM), master’s and PhD studies..

Course Level:               Bachelor, Master, PhD Degree

Eligibility Criteria: Applicant must be a citizen of Pakistan/AJ&K.

  • Applicants enrolled in the last year of their existing study programs/degrees and result awaiting candidates are allowed to apply.
  • There is no upper age limit for the application process. Applicant must be 18 years of age on or before 31st August 2026)
  • For Bachelor's (Undergraduate Programs) and One-Tier Master's degree programs i.e. Medicine, Dentistry etc. Currently enrolled applicants (final year) are eligible to apply for the scholarship applications process. Note that applicants must have possession of completed HSSC/Intermediate or equivalent before August 01, 2026. In case of failure of submission of final degree and transcript on https://apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu/ portal before August 01, 2026, candidature will be cancelled.
  • For Master's (Postgraduate Programs), applicants must have completed 16 years Bachelors/or equivalent degree before August 01, 2026. Currently enrolled applicants (final semester) are eligible to apply for the scholarship applications process. Note that applicants must have possession of their final degree and transcript before August 01, 2026. In case of failure of submission of final degree and transcript on https://apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu/  before August 01, 2026, candidature will be cancelled.
  • For PhD Programs, applicants must have completed Masters/MS/MPhil degree or equivalent before August 01, 2026. In case of failure of submission of final degree and transcript on https://apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu/  before August 01, 2026, candidature will be cancelled.
  • Attestation of educational documents is not required at the initial stage of the process. After the applicant has been nominated by HEC, certificates/transcripts/degrees to be attached must be attested by the attesting authorities such as IBCC and HEC. Equivalence of O & A level from IBCC/MOFA.
  • Some Hungarian universities may require IELTS/TOEFL scores, whereas most of the institutions require English proficiency certificate for the admissions (attained from your respected college or universities).
  • All of the required documents are compulsory and must be submitted to the online Stipendium Hungaricum application system by all applicants by 15 January 2026, except for the medical certificate which you must bring with you and present it during the compulsory medical examination in Hungary only if you are awarded a scholarship.
  • In case of final selection, applicants will have to submit a bond on legal/stamp paper to HEC that he/she will not change discipline after final award of scholarship, and immediately after completion of his/her degree, he/she will return to Pakistan to serve the country for a period as prescribed by the HEC. In case of failure to do so, HEC reserves the right to recover from candidate or his/her guarantor, a penalty amount as prescribed/decided by the HEC.
  • Applicants must fulfill all other requirements set by host Hungarian university/Tempus Public Foundation/Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
  • Being nominated by HEC does not mean the award of scholarship, be informed that the award of scholarship is the final decision of Tempus Publiuc Foundation (TPF).
  • Please be extra cautious when selecting your preferred study programmes in the Stipendium Hungaricum online application system as most of the study programmes are offered as both full-degree and partial study programmes; therefore, those programmes appear twice. Please make sure that you select the programme marked with the study mode of your desire, because it is impossible to change the study mode after the application deadline.
  • USAT/HAT Test Requirements:
  • All applicants are required to provide HAT/USAT test scores. Applicant must have obtained a minimum score of 50% out of total marks in HAT/USAT test. The test validity for HAT is 02 years and USAT is 01 year. For this scholarship, applicant must have already obtained a valid HAT (score obtained on or after January 15, 2024) or USAT score (score obtained on or after January 15, 2025).
  • Without providing a minimum HAT/USAT test score (minimum score of 50% out of total marks), applications will not be considered for further process.
  • Interested applicants who are yet to take HAT/USAT test, may register for the same by visiting https://etc.hec.gov.pk/
  • The registration for the HAT/USAT is tentatively scheduled to open on December 8, 2025 and the test is expected to be held on February 1, 2026. The result of this test would be applicable and the final opportunity for eligibility under Hungary Scholarship 2026-27 applications.
  • The test score will be automatically updated for the scholarship nominations after the announcement of results, applicants are not required to add their (tentative February 1, 2026 test) marks manually.
  • Note-I: It is the sole responsibility of students applying for any professional degree (Medical, Engineering, Nursing, Architecture, Law, Veterinary Medicine, technology etc.) to confirm its accreditation from the respective Councils i.e. Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC), Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC), Pakistan Council for Architects and Town Planners (PCATP), Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC), Pakistan Pharmacy Council (PCP) etc.
  • Note-II: “As per Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), undergraduate engineering programs of the University of Debrecen and Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) are recognized by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), however, undergraduate engineering programs of the remaining HEIs are likely to be recognized within due course of time and applicant considering these universities may apply on their own responsibility".
  • Note-III: Applicants applying for medical/dental fields are required to follow the updated instructions/announcements provided by PMDC regarding admissions/recognitions of foreign institutions.
