I am directed to reach out to seek your assistance in inviting scholars, policymakers, researchers, experts and faculty members from your campus/ department to contribute their valuable insights to an upcoming book titled, "The Developing-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation: Synergies, Cooperation, and Trajectories”.
The D-8, consisting of eight member countries, namely Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Türkiye, has played an important role in fostering regional economic cooperation through initiatives in trade, investment, agriculture, industry, technology, and more. This book will serve as a significant scholarly endeavor aimed at documenting and analyzing the progress and achievements of the Developing-8 (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation since its inception in 1997. The book will also serve as a comprehensive resource for policymakers, scholars, and researchers, with contributions focusing on regional economic integration and sustainable development. D-8 will be particularly interested in contributions that offer both in-depth analysis and policy recommendations for enhancing the D-8’s economic cooperation.
The contributors may contribute chapters that address thematic areas such as:
- Historical Origin and Structure of the D-8
- Economic Profiles of Member States
- Trade, Investments, Agriculture, and Energy Cooperation
- Industrial Cooperation, Technological Collaboration, SMEs, and Tourism
- Human Capital Development, Food Security, and Navigating Global Economic Dynamics
In addition, the writers are at liberty to propose and write on other topical issues related to the D-8 Organization's areas of cooperation, offering flexibility for diverse contributions. In order to materialize the proposed Book Initiative, the Secretariat has developed a Concept Paper, which is attached herewith for reference.
