Islamabad, November 13, 2023 – A significant meeting took place at CUI on Monday, November 13, 2023, making a pivotal moment in fostering academic and research collaboration. Officials from Acadia University Canada and Hasselt University Belgium joined their counterparts at CUI in a detailed dialogue aimed at exploring potential partnerships. The two-member delegation included Dr. Elhadi Shakshuki, Professor and Graduate Chair at the Jodrey School of Computer Science at Acadia University, Canada and Prof. Dr. Ansar-Ul-Haque Yasar, Head of the Business Development Unit at the Transportation Research Institute (IMOB) Hasselt University Belgium. They were accompanied by Mr. Wasim Hashmi Syed, a former Advisor, HRD, HEC and currently a Member of the NADRA Authority Board, Islamabad.

The meeting was attended by officials from CUI, including Dr. Hammad Omer, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Head International Office, Prof. Dr. Shurjeel Wyne, Head, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a team of International Office. The key highlights of the meeting were presenting an overview of CUI and Faculty of Engineering, Insights of Hasselt and Acadia University and collaboration opportunities.

The visitants proposed potential collaboration areas with CUI, specifically focusing on filing patents and commercializing products jointly, sabbatical programs, short visit programs and a bilateral cooperation program for PhD students. Various options of collaborations with dual, double, and joint degree programs were explored. Dr. Yasar suggested considering a new international event or conference as a collaborative initiative between Hasselt and CUI.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to further explore collaboration avenues and seek approvals to initiate joint programs, setting the stage for a promising academia and research partnership between the three institutions.
