04^th April, 2023: International office, COMSATS University Islamabad campus had organized a talk entitled “Economic Development In legislation regarding disability in Pakistan”

     The prime objective of conducting this talk was to create an awareness about infrastructure developed by the government and non-governmental organizations as well as corporate sector for promoting a barrier free, inclusive and rights based society. It also aims to provide information about the services and facilities currently available to the persons with disabilities in the country and also to use the same for their inclusive mainstreaming.

Mr. Zulagarnain Asghar, CEO of Potohar Mental Health Association was the speaker of the event. He enlightened the students about the legislation regarding disability in Pakistan and explained why persons living with disabilities in general and women living with disabilities in particular are rarely part of fiscal, public and policy discourse. He further added that girls/women living with disabilities have neither received any systematic attention nor support from the government and the development agencies and there is a dire need to implement laws to protect them. This interactive session provided the students a good insight about the topic.

Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head International office specially thanked the chief guest for taking out the time from his busy schedule and for sharing such a wonderful talk which was very informative and at the same time very motivational for the students. He further added that International office of CUI is always endeavor to organize such kind of activity for our students apart from their academic activities.
