Conferences, Seminar and Workshops

Prof. Dr. Shamsul Qamar presented an invited talk in Colloquium on Trends in Chemical Process Engineering, August 22-26, 2016, Max Planck Institute Magdeburg, Germany.

Dr. Mansur Shaukat ,Assistant Professor, Mathematics Department, CUI Islamabad was speaker for talk regarding “SHANGHAI RANKING”, this talk was arranged by the China study Center as Dr. Mansur Shaukat has completed his PhD from Beijing Institute of Technology, China and is an active Chinese Universities Alumni.

Dr. Salman Amin Malik was invited as plenary speaker at an international conference held at LUMS from 22 May to 24 May 2017. The link of the conference is https://casm.lums.edu.pk/casm-cam2017

Following Few Eminent international Professors from different Universities were on visit of Pakistan:

1. Prof. Dr. Rer. Nat. habil. Lutz Tobiska: Professor Lutz is from Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany.
2. Prof. Dr. Petr. Knobloch: Professor Petr is from Charles University, Sokolovska, Czech Republic.

iii. Dr. Gabriel Barrenechea from University of Strathclyde Glasgow, Scotland.

They showed interest to interact with Chairman, Head and faculty of Department of Mathematics, CUI, Islamabad. The visit was planned on May 26, 2017, at 1030 am. Dr. Tanvir Akbar Kiani and Dr. Rab Nawaz coordinated the activity

Ø Prof. Dr. Khalida Inayat Noor , Eminent Professor, Mathematics department was invited to attend the 5^th GLOBAL FORUM ON ISLAMIC FINANCE by CUI, Lahore campus.

Ø Dr. Tanvir Akbar Kiyani , Assistant Professor, Mathematics was selected as a member of CUI hosting panel for French delegation, who visited CUI on March 15, 2017. As, CUI was selected to host the delegation on behalf of HEC. Dr. Tanvir was representing the Mathematics department in liaison with ILO department, Principal Seat. The purpose of the visit is to explore avenues of mutual interest.

Ø Dr. Mansoor Shaukat Khan , Assistant Professor of Mathematics Department was nominated to attend the meeting in HEC under collaboration with Chinese universities on Tuesday July 11, 2017

Ø Dr. Salman Amin Malik, Dr. Saeed Akram, Dr.Mairaj Bibi, Dr. Sohail participated in Workshop on Combinatorial Algebra at CUI Islamabad. July 20, 2017.The workshop was organized by Dr. Mohammad Fazeel Anwar , Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics.

Ø Dr. Rab Nawaz attended 2^nd International Conference on Safety and Reliability of Ships, Offshore and Subsea Structures being held in Glasgow UK from August 15th to 17th, 2016. He presented his research work on the titled: On coupled wave scattering of structures involving flexible boundaries.

Ø Dr. Fazeel Anwar participated in a conference on “ Representations of Algebraic Groups” at university of York, UK from July 13-15, 2016

Faculty Leadership

Ø Dr. Tanvir Akbar kiani , Department of Mathematics, organized an Eco-Hiking at trail 5 on October 27, 2016, as a part of student’s week activities. Faculty and students participated and appreciated the cause. The effort was well received in the local media as a prominent newspaper “The News” published this story on 29th October, 2016. The students and faculty proved themselves to be responsible citizens of community by collecting the garbage and vowed to make to this a regular feature in motivating others. Ø Dr. Fazeel Anwar , Assistant Professor, Mathematics led the group of students from Mathematics department to visit Gwadar and Karachi in lieu with ”Youth Integration Program”. This program was organized by Pak Army, Pak Rangers, Sindh Government and Balochistan Government. The participants visited university of Karachi, GAWADAR institute of Technology, Sindh Rangers Head Quarter and various places in Sindh Balochistan. The main purpose of this activity was to build people to people interaction and create inter province harmony. The participants had fruitful discussions with Chief Minister Sindh(Murad Ali Shah), Dr. Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal, DG Rangers, Southern Commander, Interior Minister Balochistan, Speaker Balochistan assembly among others.

Seminars/Workshops 2018-19

2018. a) 2^ndCUI-IWR, Dune PDE Lab workshop through collaboration of Department of Mathematics, CUI, Islamabad and Heidelberg University, Germany was successfully conducted from 01^st to 5^th October, 2018. Where international resource personals, International participants and local participants participated. It was a huge success as the mentioned workshop was entirely funded by the Heidelberg University and the overall budget head for the said workshop was 13000 Euros.  Abdullah Shah was the focal person for the said workshop.

2018. b) A successful two day workshop regarding Image Data Science was held from 15^th -16^th October, 2018. This workshop was focused upon Computational Pathology , its main aim was to spot modern diseases through modern era technology and algorithms. Members of organizing committee included:

1. e) On the invitation of HOD, Mathematics Prof. Dr. Shamsul Qamar, a very prestigious guest  Dr. Ing. Naim Bajcinca, TU Kaiserslautern, Germany visited from 16^th - 23^rd February, 2019 to present talks at CU, Islamabad and various other universities and to benefit the faculty & students with his immense knowledge.
2. f)  Sohail Iqbal (Assistant Professor) and Mr. Imran Pervez (Lecturer) organized a mini-workshop on 23^rd April, 2019. Guests from Russia also participated in the above mentioned workshop. Details are as following

2019. g) Yongjoo Shin from Korean Institute of Advanced studies (KIAS), South Korea Visited Department of Mathematics from 1st to 5th July, 2019. As part of his visit the department of Mathematics organized a mini-workshop. As part of this workshop Dr. Yongjoo Shin delivered a talk to the mathematical fraternity. The details of his talk are as follows:

1. h) Tayyab Nawaz, Assistant Professor, has arranged Data Science workshop USING PYTHON AND R from October 21-23, 2019 in CUI Islamabad campus

2019. i) A talk session regarding “Future Perspective of Data Science as a Mathematician” was held on Thursday, 26^th September, 2019. Dr. Tayyab Nawaz, Assistant Professor was its speaker and it was organized by Dr. Mansur Shaukat, Assistant Professor.

Honours and Awards

1.  Mr. Hafiz Ahmad and Ms. Hira Tahir, the two students of BS Mathematics 6th Semester, Department of Mathematics COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad Campus achieved First position in Mathematicians IEEE’16 event was held on November 26, 2016 at FAST-National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences out of total 50 universities participated in this event.

2.  Prof. Dr. Aslam Noor has been selected as “Highly Cited Researcher” and his reports earning the mark of exceptional impact by Thomson Reuters (2016-17)

3.  Dr. Mansur Shaukat , Assistant professor of the Mathematics Department, CUI, Islamabad Campus was nominated and awarded for research grants by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan under National Research Program for Universities (NRPU), 2016 on 3rd May, 2017. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Shamsul Qamar and Prof. Dr. Moiz-ud-din Khan were the invitees and attended the above mentioned event as honorable guests

4.  Prof. Dr. Aslam Noor , Eminent professor, Mathematics department has been awarded “SITARA-E-IMTIAZ” by the Governor of Punjab at Governor House, Lahore, Pakistan on 23rd March, 2017, for his immaculate efforts in the field of Mathematics.

5. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Noor was the invited speaker at the: Workshop

" Recent Trends in Applied Mathematics ", which was held on September 16, 2019 at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He delivered the lecture on the Recent Developments in Variational Inequalities and Numerical Methods.
