Transforming Talent:

CUI’s Pioneering Role in AI, Data Science, and Blockchain Training

In early 2024, a dedicated team from the Directorate of P,D & HRD and the Department of Computer Science at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) embarked on an ambitious journey. This initiative aimed to deliver the "High Impact IT Training Program in AI, Data Science, and Blockchain" as part of the "Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Program," in collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission, and selected degree colleges in Islamabad.

Recognizing the importance of the program, the CUI Team developed and implemented a two-week (50-hour) comprehensive training program to ensure the highest standards of training. This program involved subject matter experts and over 30 CUI faculty members who were rigorously prepared to serve as trainers for the initiative.

Over seven months, the CUI Team meticulously crafted a robust training framework. This included a detailed course outline, precise schedules for six months of in-class teaching, and hands-on training sessions. After extensive collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission, and three other universities, a joint proposal was finalized and advertised nationally.

The program officially commenced on June 11, 2024, across three degree colleges. Its impact was quickly recognized, with the Federal Minister for Finance acknowledging the initiative in his Budget Speech to the National Assembly on June 12, 2024. This special mention highlighted CUI’s pivotal role in fostering a new generation of skilled IT professionals, earning the university widespread acclaim at the highest levels of government.

Alhamdulillah, CUI successfully completed the program in one college, with the other two colleges nearing completion. The performance of the CUI Team has been exemplary, consistently surpassing peer institutions. Notably, a Third-Party Evaluation Report rated CUI’s performance as excellent, very good, and average across the three colleges. CUI was the only university to achieve compliance with all performance parameters and was recommended to continue the program in all associated colleges.

The success of this initiative reflects CUI’s commitment to national development by preparing a highly skilled workforce equipped to excel in the emerging fields of information technology. The program not only empowers individuals with technical expertise but also fosters a financially independent and socially responsible citizenry, contributing to the overall progress of the nation.

The CUI Team takes immense pride in its contributions to this transformative national initiative. This achievement underscores the university’s capability and dedication to delivering high-quality education and training, cementing its role as a leader in shaping the future of IT skill development in Pakistan.
