CERN invites applications for its Doctoral Student Program, designed for students interested in conducting thesis research at a leading scientific institution. Situated in Switzerland, CERN offers doctoral students a monthly stipend and a travel allowance. The initial contract is for six months, renewable for up to three years.
Eligible candidates must be enrolled in or about to start a doctoral program in a CERN member state, Romania, or Serbia, or have resided in a member state for the past five years. Areas of study include applied physics, IT, mathematics, various engineering fields, materials science, radiation protection, safety, environmental protection, science communication, surveying, and ultra-high vacuum. Students specializing in theoretical or experimental particle physics are not eligible. Proficiency in English or French is required.
