About Us

The Department of Meteorology is home of multidisciplinary fields and offer services of specialists of varying backgrounds ranging from Meteorology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Geography and Geodesy and Geographical Information System. The Department, established in 2005, is actively engaged in research and teaching activities. Apart from research and teaching the department frequently conducts seminars, workshops and organizes national and international conferences. The Faculty of Bio sciences in CIIT is committed to be a world class center of excellence and a leader in teaching and learning within the field of Electrical Engineering.

  • To actively achieve gender mainstreaming in our programs. Women are doing remarkable work in the world today. There is an increased demand from the female students to enroll in the Bio Department. CIIT encourages and welcomes female enrollment and increase in their ratio in its programs.

The History

The Department of Biosciences was established a few years back at the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad Campus. The department started with the BS Bioinformatics program in 2003 and currently has more than 125 students. This program is becoming very popular in the country and will fulfill the future needs of Pakistan in this very important field of study. In addition to the BS program the department has started MS/PhD programs in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Genetics and Developmental Biology.

For all these programs we have a highly qualified staff consisting of more than 30 members of which 12 have PhD's and are actively involved in research in different domains of Biosciences.

Bio Sciences is a growing Department and soon it will be housed in its own building in the new campus being constructed at Chak Shahzad, Islamabad.
