Welcome to the China Study Center (CSC) of COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI)

It is my pleasure and privilege to introduce our center which happens to one of its kind to be established in an academic institution as it focuses primarily on educational, scientific and business linkages with the Peoples Republic of China (PRC). Pakistan and China have a long and strong relationship which commenced in 1950 when Pakistan became the first country to recognize the PRC. Since then, the strategic and economic relationship between the two countries has been spiraling exponentially which is manifested by cooperation in the geo political domain and joint mega projects.

One of such projects is the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. This is in accordance with the vision of President Xi Jinping to revive the old silk route by operationalising the Silk Road economic belt and Maritime Silk Road. This would ensure connectivity and economic integration in a vast region with Pakistan as the epi-centre.

The mission of the China Study Center at CUI is to promote China as the most significant geopolitical and economic partner of Pakistan. It seeks to accomplish this by developing an understanding and appreciation of the socio-cultural and economic intricacies pertaining to the Peoples Republic of China and engaging in meaningful dialogue with Chinese Counterparts.

As such the Center strives to promote joint research exchanges of students and faculty. It also aims at broad based collaboration with Pakistan Study Centers and other relevant institution and universities in China.

Currently some of the activities being spearheaded by the China Study Center at CUI include teaching of Chinese language, exposure to Chinese culture instilling a China related skill set in our students, promoting bilateral business ties primarily through the annual Pak China Business Forum and activities aimed at learning and benefiting from the unprecedented development in China.

In the end I would like to thank my colleagues and researchers at the China Study Center whose untiring efforts have ensured the success of the China Study Center.
