Introduction

NDRC (Networks & Distributed Computing Research Group) is a research group at Department of Computer Science COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) Wah Campus, Pakistan. NCSR is exploring the areas of networks and communication systems for research outcomes. The group has focused the underlined topics of networks & communication systems such as network protocols, Simulations and Modeling, Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning, Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETS), Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks, Parallel and Distributed Networks , Vehicular ad-hoc network and other promising areas of networks in their research.

Research Area:

MANETs is one of the key research areas at NDRC. The group members including faculty and students research efforts have brought up good journal and conference publications during last two years. The members have focused various research issues in MANETS such as Routing Protocols, Quality of Service (QoS), and Intrusion Detection, Node Mobility, Security and Density calculation.

Another areas of interest in NDRC group is the design and analysis of Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols for wireless networks, Cooperative Communication, Reliable delivery of multimedia contents in multicast networks and 5G Radio Access Networks.

The usability of sensors in the society and ongoing research on Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) opened a new door of research for NCSR group members. The core issues and there solution in WSN and optimizing these network performance is focused in the group and produced good research outcomes in the form of publications.

The emerging area of Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) is providing new concepts of safe and secure travelling for the passengers and drivers on the roads. The group members are also focusing key issues related to vehicular mobility modeling and connectivity in VANET to be the part of ongoing research in this area. A new mobility and connectivity models are suggested in research outcomes and published for future peer reviews and research outcomes.

The group members are also focused on the area of Parallel and Distributed Networks. The promising topics of Clusters, Grid, Cloud, and Peer-to-Peer systems are targeted for research. The journal and conference publications from the group members in these areas created a healthy research environment for the students and faculty to explore new aspects of Distributed Networks.
