Facilities for the Program

The Department of Computer Science offers the most advanced facilities to its students. We have fully equipped state-of-the-art lecture rooms, latest computer labs, high-speed Internet, and a networked environment.

Scope

Pakistan’s IT industry can majorly boost the country’s economy like other Asian countries. Unlike other industries, the Information Technology industry does not require heavy machinery, elaborate infrastructure or sophisticated tools. It mainly depends on capable people. Pakistan’s IT and software industry has mainly focused on higher-end software products and solutions and is mostly populated with bachelor's and master’s degree holders in CS. In the past, research and development in the industry had a very low or no priority at all. With time, academia and the industry realized the importance of research in IT. A PhD degree in the relevant field is a must to excel in academics. A few universities in Pakistan offer PhD degrees in CS, far less than the demand. We are trying to fill this gap by providing a program structure par excellence for achieving a state-of-the-art higher degree in computer science.

Objectives

The Graduate Program in Computer Science has been designed with the objective that the students will

  • Possess a breadth of knowledge in Computer Science combined with a depth of knowledge in at least one focus area.
  • Be capable of independent research in Computer Science.
  • Be familiar with the literature in the field and be able to perform a literature search on an advanced topic in Computer Science.
  • Be knowledgeable about the theoretical foundations of computing and have strong practical application experience.
  • Be able to make a professional presentation and be able to write a research article in the field of Computer Sci
  • Having experience working in teams and Facult
  • Understand and respect the professional standards of ethics expected of a computer scien
