Program Overview

The main purpose of CUI’s BS Artificial Intelligence is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the theories, methods, and techniques used in the field of artificial intelligence. The program includes courses on mathematics, statistics, programming, and machine learning, as well as more specialized topics such as natural language processing, computer vision, robotics, and data ethics. The program also include practical experience in designing, implementing, and testing AI systems, such as through capstone projects or internships. In addition, students have opportunities to engage in AI algorithm development, either through coursework or lab work.

The CUI’s BS Artificial Intelligence program is for the mathematically adept student who wishes to become a computing professional with knowledge of relevant applications areas. The degree path starts from the Fundamentals of computer science and programming, including data structures, algorithms, and software development. It also includes Mathematics and statistics, including calculus, linear algebra, and probability theory, that are essential for understanding the theoretical foundations of AI. It then emphasizes on problem solving using Core AI concepts and techniques, such as search algorithms, machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision. It also focuses on Specialization areas that allow students to focus on specific applications of AI, such as robotics, game development, data analytics, or intelligent systems.

The overall goal of an AI degree program is to prepare graduates for a range of careers in the field of AI, including as AI engineers, data scientists, machine learning specialists, AI researchers, or AI product managers. Additionally, the program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to apply AI to a wide range of domains, such as healthcare, finance, transportation, and education.

Students take a core of computer science courses that provide a solid foundation for advanced work. Building on this base, students explore a variety of specializations from 6th semester onwards. In addition, students develop a broad appreciation for computer applications and the effects of computers on society via program electives, general education courses, and various free electives, which can be used to complete minors.

It is a four years program consisting of eight semesters. The maximum duration for completion of this degree is twelve semesters. The degree is awarded on completion of minimum 133 credit hours, including six credits for the project, with a passing CGPA of at least 2.0/4.0.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Artificial Intelligence program is to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to design, develop, and deploy AI-based solutions in a wide range of industries. The program also aims to foster ethical and responsible AI practices, designing and developing AI applications that can automate tasks, augment human capabilities, support decision-making, and prepare students to be leaders in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI. Ultimately, the mission of Artificial Intelligence program is to contribute to the advancement of AI technology and its responsible use for the benefit of society.

Program Educational Objectives

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of our Artificial Intelligence program are designed to ensure that graduates are well-prepared for a wide range of careers in industry, academia, government, and other sectors, and can contribute to the development and deployment of AI technologies in a responsible and effective manner. To meet the needs of our constituents, our Program Education Objectives state that within a few years of graduation our graduates will be able to:

  1. Apply the knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence to design, develop, and implement intelligent systems and applications that can solve real-world problems in various fields.
  2. Analyze, evaluate, and adapt existing AI technologies and techniques to solve novel problems, and develop new AI solutions that advance the state of the art.
  3. Solve complex problems and develop AI systems that meet the needs of various stakeholders and explain the design and functionality of AI systems and their implications.
  4. Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior, and understand the social, legal, and ethical implications of AI systems and their impact on society.
  5. Engage in lifelong learning and professional development and stay abreast of the latest developments and trends in AI and related fields.
