COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Wah Campus organized an Open House and Job Fair on December 28, 2023 for the graduating students of Fall 2023 from the Department of Management Sciences (MS) and Computer Science (CS) .

Graduating students showcased their final year projects (FYPs) during the event which portrayed their professional skills. The participating industry keenly observed the talent of students exhibited in 115 projects (108 from CS and 7 from MS departments). The companies conducted detailed interviews of the graduating students and offered jobs to the selected students.

The event was inaugurated by Mr Ammar Jaffri former Additional Director General, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and CEO of Digital Pakistan. He is an expert in Artificial Intelligence, Block Chain, Internet of Things and Cloud Computing. The Chief Guest highlighted the importance of updating the curriculum in accordance with the industry needs. He shared his professional experience and guided students to secure their dream jobs.

Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Bhatti, Incharge, Career Development Center (CDC) briefed about the role and activities of CDC of Wah Campus. He emphasized the significance of fostering Industry-Academia partnerships and prioritizing student welfare, recognizing them as pivotal elements for the progress and advancement of any field. This involves creating opportunities for students to acquire practical experience and enabling academia to remain abreast of industry developments. Providing a supportive and nurturing environment is essential for the overall well-being and success of CUI Wah students.

 The Campus Director, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid, T.,I. welcomed the participating industry at CUI Wah. He emphasized the collaborative synergy between industry and academia, highlighting the mutual benefits that accrue to students through real-world experience and practical training. Such an integrative approach not only enriches their education but also equips them to thrive in the fiercely competitive job market, ensuring their success in future careers. The Campus Director underscored the presence of top-notch talent at CUI Wah and urged companies to consider hiring these exceptional individuals. Gratefully acknowledging the chief guest for his valuable time, he expressed sincere appreciation. The Chief Guest, Companies and Campus Director visited the FYP exhibition halls and interacted with graduating students.

Dr. Faisal Shafiq Butt, Assistant Professor, Computer Science Department presented the event report at the closing ceremony. More than 64 companies participated in the event and interviewed students. As per feedback from the companies, all students were interviewed, and 74 (59 from CS and 15 from MS) students were offered jobs. More graduates will be evaluated and job internship positions will be offered by companies.

Mr. Muhammad Kamal Yamin, alumni from the Management Sciences Department and Mr. Muhammad Saeed Butt, Senior Manager BMW Germany, an Alumni from the Computer Science Department shared their success stories, experience, and the role of CUI Wah in their success.

In the closing session, Mr. Asim Hamza Gillani, Director Projects, Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) was the chief guest. He highlighted the need for an Industry-Academia partnership which is a dire need of the era. He emphasized that the exhibited projects were of high quality and tilted towards industry needs. He praised the quality and international visibility of the FYPs to the international community. The chief guest also shared details of internship opportunities provided by PSEB which later on can be a doorway to secure good jobs in multinational organizations.

The chief guest of the closing ceremony and Director Campus congratulated the winners and runner-up teams of the FYPs and distributed prize money and certificates to the winners and runner-ups of final-year projects. The Director Campus also congratulated the organizing team for the successful conduct of the event.

The Career Development Center (CDC), CUI, Wah Campus, organized a Virtual Open House & Job Fair - Spring 2021 event on July 15 – 16, 2021. A total of 114 final year projects were exhibited online by the undergraduate students of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Computer Science Departments. On day one, July 15, 2021, students presented their project work online along with their project supervisor for an internal evaluation conducted by their respective departmental jury/judges.

On day two, July 16, 2021, the event started with the welcome speech of Dr. Usman Ghani, In-charge Career Development Center. In his address, he presented the effectiveness of the event and acknowledged the support that Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abid, Campus Director furnished in holding this successful online event, which will be a platform for students learning for the future as well as career building of passing out students of Spring - 2021. He thanked the entire organizers including HoDs, coordinators, and faculty from each department and IT Team especially Mr. Aqib Shabbir for all the great work done regarding coordination with focal persons for the completion of student's presentations to upload on the CDC website.

Alumni of CUI – Wah Campus contributed the main role in this event and they were well connected in order to make this event highly effective for the passing out student. Alumni of all departments including Assistant Manager, Mr. Ehtisham from National Logistic Cell, Chief Executive Officer, Muhammad Farrukh Mahmood from 11Values Pakistan, and Operations Manager, Talha Malik from ST Engineering Solutions gave an online talk. In their talk, they encouraged and motivated all the participants for their good projects and provided guidance related to career development. They guided students in shaping themselves to fulfill current diverse market needs to compete with other university students. Alumni appreciated the efforts made by CUI, Wah Campus for giving students an opportunity and platform to present their skills and projects to industry and academia.

More than 100 organizations related to academia, industry and research & development participated and attended the event and showed their keen interests. Online Interviews of shortlisted candidates were also arranged for different organizations, which showed their interests in specific projects.

Dr. Rameez on behalf of the CDC announced the first three best projects from each department and will be highlighted on the CDC website soon with their titles, students and supervisor details and certificates will be awarded to all winners.

The Director Campus in his closing remarks shared his appreciation for all the great efforts of CDC, IT, E&CE, CS, and Civil departments for their excellent teamwork jointly and in coordination with students, industries, and Alumni; hence making this online event successfully. He appreciated faculty members in guiding all students for such a unique opportunity of showcasing their projects and talent to a global community of their good work. Covid-19 has created a lot of restrictions on education but has also given different kinds of opportunities to have dynamic ideas to proceed with the pandemic situations. Director Campus thanked all industry and Alumni for their participation, encouragement, guidance, evaluation, and selection to the graduating batch students. He also mentioned other activities related to entrepreneurship and set up a student start-up business center at CUI Wah independently and in collaboration with PITB Plan 9 and Pakistan Software Export Board soon. He also mentioned the ORIC website, where research profiles of all faculty are available to attract graduates and industry for admissions in graduate programs. Describing his vision for CUI Wah, he said adopting Science-Technology-Society philosophy, Real-World Problem Solving will help and will produce Entrepreneurs.

The Director Campus congratulated the winner and runner-up teams of the FYP and offered to incubate in SSBC established at CUI Wah Campus.

Open House, Job fair , Spring 2021

Civil Engineering Department organized “Open House and Job Fair 2018” on May 15, 2018 in which 22 undergraduate Final Year Projects were displayed for attention of industry and academia. Seven External Examiners from UET Taxila and guests from industry were invited to attend the event. The projects were related to five various streams of Civil Engineering i.e. Structures, Water Resources, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Construction Engineering and Management. The guests showed keen interest and appreciated the efforts by the graduating students in completing their projects. The guests from the industry assured to work on the possibility to offer internships and jobs to graduating students.

Open House, Job Fair, 2018

The Department of Electrical Engineering organized “Open House and Job Fair 2018”, on May 11, 2018 in which 52 Undergraduate Final Years Projects (FYPs) were showcased for the attention of industries/academia. The Head, Electrical Engineering Department, Dr. Nadia Nawaz welcomed the guests in opening ceremony and presented department’s activities report. Final year undergraduate students related to four streams i.e., Computer, Electronics, Power and Telecommunication showcased their academic potential in the form of Final Year Projects. Representatives of industries/organizations and universities visited and appreciated the efforts of young engineers and conducted interviews for job/internships. Apart from these seven external examiners from different universities attended the event to evaluate FYPs.
