'National Conference on Climate Change: Race Against Time'

On Wednesday 18 January 2023, Islamic Relief, Pakistan hosted a national conference at Serena Hotel, Islamabad, titled 'National Conference on Climate Change: Race Against Time'. The aim of the conference was to generate awareness of the climate crisis and to develop strategies to tackle its impacts, following the disaster that had impacted over 33 million people.

Several distinguished guests attended the event, such as Leslie Scanlon, High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan; Romina Khurshid Alam, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister; Steven Rynecki, Director Climate and Sustainable Growth USAID; Khusrav Sharifov, UNDP's Senior Technical Advisor on Climate Change and Disaster Resilience; and Bilal Anwar, CEO of the National Disaster and Risk Management Fund.

Dr. Zainab Khalid and Mr. Muhammad Zahir were present from CCRD. Other attendees included representatives from both national and international organizations, who provided insight into the effects of climate change and possible solutions. The panel discussion at the conference was centered around climate challenges and the current policy crisis, and included speakers such as Steven Rynecki, Saleh Baloch, Asfandyar Kakar, Bilal Anwar, Professor Dr. Sajida Noreen, Kainat.
