Program Overview

Our mission is to promote and disseminate knowledge through high quality education to graduate students by teaching cross-disciplinary curriculum and exposing them to state-of-the-art instrumentation. The Department of Chemistry at CUI, Islamabad campus was established in July 2018. The Department is equipped with research laboratories, while the Islamabad campus has an array of leading scientific equipment. The Department has a number of foreign qualified faculty members conducting cutting edge research in different domain/fields of chemistry. The main objective of the Department is to train the new generation through research-based education to solve the problems of tomorrow.

Entry Requirements

A 16 years degree in the relevant field from an accredited educational institution with minimum First Division (annual system) or CGPA 2.5/4.0 (semester system) and no third division (annual system) or ‘D grade’ (semester system) throughout the academic career. NTS GAT General with minimum score of 50.

Graduate Regulations

  • Minimum duration for completion of the program is 2 years and not more than 4 years.
  • Student can register minimum of 3 credit hours and maximum of 12 credit hours in a semester.
  • Student can register thesis after completion of 12 credit hours of course work.
    • Semester I: Course work
    • Semester II: Course work
    • Semester III &IV: Research Project and Thesis

We are offering cutting edge research in the fields of:

Organic synthesis of organic bioactive molecules, heterocycles, pericycles, stereochemical molecules, natural products isolation and their multistep synthesis, green synthesis; catalysis, fuel cells, energy, dyes degradation, adsorption studies, sensors & biosensors, drug delivery, nanomaterials, metal complexation, MOFS, laser studies, polymer chemistry, analytical chemistry etc.

After completing MS degree program, our students may access a number of career opportunities like in healthcare sector, academia, industries (Cement, Angro-chemicals, beverages etc), pharmaceuticals etc.
