It is submitted that the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) announce the call for participation in the international symposium on " Translation and Security: The Role of Translation in Enhancing National and International Security ". 

This symposium aims to explore various dimensions of the role of translation in security, ranging from security-focused translation that supports intelligence and counterterrorism efforts to humanitarian translation contributing to the management of international crises. It will also examine the impact of modern technological advancements, such as artificial intelligence and machine translation, on the future of security and translation work, opening new opportunities for collaboration between security institutions and language experts. 

This initiative aims to create an academic platform for researchers, experts, and decision-makers to discuss innovations, share experiences, and develop strategies for using translation to enhance global security and stability.

Symposium Themes

Theme One: Role of translation in addressing security issues and enhancing national and international security. 
  • Translation as a means of enhancing security: The role of translation in supporting security organizations in addressing internal and external threats.
  • International cooperation through translation: Role of translation in fostering cooperation between countries and international organizations in the field of security.
  • Intelligence transmission in crisis situations: How does accurate translation affect the efficiency of sensitive information transfer at critical times critical times?
  • Case study: Concrete examples of security situations where translation played a decisive role in decision-making.
Theme Two: The strategic partnership among security institutions, translation experts and international organizations 
  • Mechanisms for strengthening effective communication: How to improve communication between translators and security analysts to obtain accurate translations.
  • Building trust between translation centers and security organizations: Challenges and solutions.
  • Guidelines for translators: Training translators to handle confidential and securitysensitive texts.
  • Case study: Successful collaboration between translators and security bodies on global issues.
Theme Three: Linguistic and cultural challenges to security-related translation 
  • Linguistic challenges: Accurate translation of specialized security and legal terminology.
  • Cultural challenges: Impact of cultural and political differences on the accuracy and effectiveness of translation in the field of security.
  • Local dialects and jargon: How translators manage linguistic diversity in securitysensitive contexts. 
Theme Four: Security translation and challenges of digital advancements 
  • Technology and artificial intelligence in security translation: How advanced technologies are speeding up and optimizing security translation processes.
  • AI translation tools: Role of intelligent software in the analysis and efficient translation of lengthy security documents.
  • Future of security translation: How will advanced technologies change the future of security translation and its role in supporting security operations. 
Theme Five: Translation and cybersecurity 
  • Information security and translation: Significance of translating technical reports on cyber-attacks and data protection.
  • Translation in the fight against cybercrime: How translation contributes to the analysis and understanding of cyberattacks and cross-border cyber threats?
  • Case study: Examples of translation used in the fight against global cyberattacks.
Participation Requirements 
  • Papers must align with one of the symposium’s themes. • Submissions must be original, unpublished works.
  • Abstracts of no more than 300 words must be submitted in Arabic, English, or French.
  • Papers should be between 12 and 20 pages (3000-5000 words), formatted in Times New Roman, size 12 font.

Key Dates 
  • Deadline for submitting abstracts and CVs of participants: March 1, 2025.
  • Notification of accepted abstracts and distribution of participation forms: March 15, 2025.
  • Deadline for submitting full papers and participation forms: May 2, 2025.

Call for Papers for International Symposium on ‘Innovation of Natural Product Resources of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Asia-Pacific Region’ (16-18 December 2022), being Organized by the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB), China 

Respected Colleagues,

Greetings from the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS).

It may kindly be noted that the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology (TIB), China, an esteemed Centre of Excellence of COMSATS, is holding the International Symposium on ‘Innovation of Natural Product Resources of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Asia-Pacific Region’ on 16-18 December 2022 in Tianjin, China. The symposium is focused at the development and application of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) resources in the Asia-Pacific region under the epidemic situation, during which eminent experts and scholars will introduce the latest research progress and new trends in the related fields.

 

In this regard, the relevant experts/scientists of your esteemed Centre of Excellence are invited to submit Abstracts related to the following topics: synthetic biotechnology and innovation of natural product resources; synthetic biotechnology and synthesis of active substances of natural products; physiological and pharmacological activities of natural products of traditional Chinese medicine; and application of natural products of traditional Chinese medicine.
