Department of Environment Environment Science, COMSATS University Islamabad, Vehari campus actively contributed in an inception workshop aimed at formulating an integrated solid waste management plan for the Sahiwal division @Hotel One, Sahiwal. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Shah and Dr. Muhammad Imran attended the workshop, organized by Punjab Urban Unit and IGES, Japan.

COMSATS University Islamabad, Vehari Campus organized one-day seminar on “Role of Adaptive Research in Technological Advancements for Safe Food Production” on May 29, 2025.

The guest speaker for the event was Dr. Ishtiaq Hassan, Director General Agriculture (Extension and Adaptive Research), Punjab.

Faculty members and students from the Department of Environmental Sciences and Department of Biotechnology attended the seminar. The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat-e-Rasool (PBUH).

Dr. Muhammad Faiz Rabbani, Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, shared a comprehensive overview of the department, highlighting its research productivity and future research prospects. He reiterated the department's commitment to active involvement in research and innovation and emphasized future collaboration with relevant institutions. He also underlined the department’s alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly focusing on environmental protection and food security in the region.

The guest speaker, Dr. Ishtiaq Hassan, delivered an engaging and insightful lecture on the current status and future prospects of agriculture in the region. The audience actively participated in the question-and-answer session, seeking clarification on various aspects of agricultural development. He offered internship opportunities to students from both departments and expressed his willingness to collaborate with COMSATS University Islamabad, Vehari Campus, in both field and laboratory-based research initiatives.

Director of COMSATS University Islamabad, Vehari Campus, Prof. Dr. Khuda Bakhsh, expressed his gratitude to the guest speaker in his concluding remarks. He emphasized the significance of collaboration and innovation in the field of agriculture and appreciated the efforts of the heads and faculty members of both departments for organizing such an informative event for the students.

A souvenir was presented to the guest speaker in recognition of his valuable time and contribution to the seminar.

On April 29, Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental Sciences, COMSATS University Islamabad, Vehari Campus, has delivered an insightful talk as an invited guest speaker on Upcycling of biodegradable waste in Agriculture via composting during Techno Molecule 25 organized by Emersen University Multan. This was a two-day international event organized by the Department of Biosciences and Technology. The conference focused on "Emerging Technologies in Molecular Biosciences" and featured prominent scholars, researchers, and faculty members. The sessions included keynote addresses, panel discussions, and award presentations, fostering academic collaboration and innovation.
