Islamabad, Pakistan – December 31, 2024 – COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) entered a strategic partnership with Huawei Technologies Pakistan Pvt Ltd, a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT) solutions. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at a ceremony held at Huawei Technologies' Islamabad office. The Honorable Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, highlighting the importance of this partnership for Pakistan's technological advancement.

This collaboration, spearheaded by the Directorate of Planning, Development & Human Resource Development (P,D&HRD), will establish technical vocational training labs at CUI Lahore Campus, empowering students and young professionals with the skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital world. This initiative underscores CUI's commitment to providing students with a comprehensive education that integrates cutting-edge technology and innovation. By partnering with Huawei, CUI aims to enhance technical vocational training and skill development, leading to increased employment opportunities and strongly reinforces CUI’s commitment to strengthening Industry-Academia linkages and producing a qualified and skilled workforce that actively contributes to national development. Beyond the establishment of training labs, this MoU will facilitate ongoing knowledge exchange and foster a culture of innovation, benefiting both institutions and the wider community. The program will be launched initially at CUI Lahore campus, with plans to replicate this facility in Karachi soon.

The initiative was coordinated, negotiated and realized by the Directorate of Planning, Development and Human Resource Development, COMSATS University Islamabad.

Huawei Technologies Pakistan Pvt Ltd, a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT), and COMSATS University Islamabad have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering collaboration in the fields of technology.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at the office of Huawei Technologies in Islamabad. The event was graced by the Honorable Federal Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui as the Chief Guest and was attended by key representatives from both organizations.
This partnership is set to enhance technical vocational training and skill development to create employment opportunities for students and young technicians by equipping them on the latest ICT technologies.
Under the MoU, Huawei will provide COMSATS University Islamabad with equipment and train their resources in delivering the technical training to the attendees of these courses. Initially, this program will commence with the COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore campus. Subsequently COMSATS University Islamabad will also help develop a similar facility in Karachi as well. This collaboration is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Dr. Tahir Naeem, Director (P, D &HRD) at COMSATS University Islamabad, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “This collaboration with Huawei represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide students with a comprehensive education in technology and innovation. We are excited to work together to develop programs that will enhance learning and research capabilities.”
Mr. Ahmed Bilal Masud, the Director Subsidiary Board at Huawei, emphasized the importance of such collaborations: “At Huawei, we believe in the power of partnerships to drive innovation. By working with COMSATS University Islamabad, we aim to nurture talent and inspire the next generation of leaders in technology.”
The MoU will also pave the way for further collaboration between both organizations including  knowledge exchange and fostering an environment of innovation that benefits both institutions and the wider community.

Islamabad, December 5, 2024 – The Inter-Islamic Network on Information Technology (INIT) and the Yemen National Academy of Young Scientists (YEMSCI) formalized a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI). This agreement marks a significant step forward in fostering cooperation in the fields of education, research, and institutional development.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Tahir Naeem, Executive Director of INIT, and Engr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali, Deputy President of YEMSCI. Distinguished witnesses included H.E. Mohammed Motahar Alashabi, Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Pakistan, and Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar, President (INIT)/ Rector, CUI. Other notable attendees included Prof. Dr. Sajjad A. Madani, Registrar CUI, Prof. Dr. Sohail Asghar, Incharge CUI Islamabad Campus, Mr. Muhammad Azam, Treasurer CUI, Dr. Hammad Omer, Head of CUI's International Office, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Salehi, Member of YEMSCI, and Mr. M. Atiq ur Rehman, Senior Manager INIT/P&D and HRD, CUI.

This MoU serves as a formal understanding and an express resolve to advancing joint efforts in areas such as education and training, research and development, and capacity building. The agreement underscores shared priorities, including the development and implementation of training programs and workshops in information technology, as well as exchange programs for students, researchers, and faculty. Furthermore, the collaboration extends to conducting research projects in the cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity, along with publishing joint research findings to contribute to the global knowledge base.

Both parties emphasized the significance of institutional development as part of their collaboration. They agreed to explore opportunities for establishing IT-focused institutions in Yemen, leveraging INIT’s technical expertise and YEMSCI’s dedication to advancing scientific excellence. These efforts aim to strengthen the capacity of academic and research institutions, facilitate resource mobilization, and enhance infrastructure and curriculum development. The MoU also envisions cooperative initiatives in policy analysis, advisory roles, and organizing conferences and seminars to address critical issues in ICT and related areas.

YEMSCI, with its commitment to fostering innovation, research, and excellence in Yemen, seeks to build centers of excellence and international universities to integrate Yemen into the global scientific community. This collaboration with INIT, an intergovernmental organization hosted at COMSATS University Islamabad, represents a meaningful step toward achieving these goals. Both organizations expressed optimism about the transformative potential of this partnership, emphasizing its capacity to create opportunities for knowledge sharing, institutional strengthening, and addressing developmental challenges through technology-driven solutions.

The ceremony concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photo, symbolizing the mutual respect and shared commitment of both organizations. This partnership is expected to open new avenues for cooperation and contribute significantly to advancing ICT-driven development in Yemen and across the broader OIC region.

MoU marks way for joint collaboration between CUI Pakistan and Curtin University, Australia

Islamabad: March 8, 2023 –  COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) and Curtin University (Curtin) Australia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on March 8, 2023 through an online signing ceremony. The formularized MoU aims to jointly work for objectives to explore opportunities for academic and research collaboration and encompasses areas of cooperation like exchange of staff and students; promote appropriate joint scholarly activities; conduct cultural, education and R&D projects; conduct study tours and provide study abroad opportunities to students.

Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head International Office, CUI moderated the ceremony. Professor Syed Asad Hussain, Director CUI Lahore Campus signed the MoU on behalf of CUI duly authorized by the worthy Rector CUI and Professor Seth Kunin, Deputy Vice Chancellor Global on behalf of Curtin. Prof. Abhijit Mukherjee, Dean of South Asia witnessed the MoU on behalf of Curtin and Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch on behalf of CUI.

During the ceremony Professor Hussain delivered a speech and said: “I hope that this MoU is going to be a long way in establishing a long-term relationship in terms of research and teaching between the two universities”.

Professor Kunin said, “For us [Curtin] building connections in new areas, building connections with universities like yours [COMSATS] is very important part of our global strategy. And trying to be able to engage with new communities and other communities and for us [Curtin] Pakistan is particularly important area to establish link with and for us this MoU signing is particularly important.”

At the end of the ceremony, both sides extended invitations to each other for visiting in the future.
