Alf Laila wa laila – a compilation of stories that forever captured the mindset of people throughout the Subcontinent region, with it’s fantastical themes. With it’s rich content, colourful characters and elements of magic, it left a deep effect, inspiring art and design through the ages. It is a mixture of different cultures, different stories in different times. However, with time, many people are forgetting the Urdu version of Alf wa Laila, that we grew up with. My thesis is designed to illustrate Alf wa Laila in a unique and charming style, by making a coffee table book, with a focus upon the Urdu text, for collectors in form of fine quality book version.
