Naqsh - نقش

The Department of Art and Design, COMSATS University Islamabad proudly presents “Thesis Show 2024” our 12 batch of Bachelor of Design and 2nd batch of Bachelor of Fine Arts students for the semester of Spring 2024.

The 28 students of B.Design are presenting their design projects that dabble with diverse mediums of communication and graphic design such and Animation design, Editorial design, Branding and Campaign design, Game design, Virtual Reality, Illustration design and much more. The topics of these projects deal with several aspects of creative thinking and assorted intellectual explorations that include sensitive topics like the power of inward thinking, the importance of having positive physical and emotional support structures for mental health, celebrating the simplicity of the mundane and others. Some projects focus on more grounded and reality-based issues such as documenting the impact of partition of 1947 through familial memories, presenting the different bazars of Rawalpindi as a tourist focal point, visualizing the pre-partition history of our country as well as present day cultures and landscapes.

The 18 students of Bachelor of Fine Arts delve more into personal and creative endeavors than anything else. Students tackle subjects of depression, discrimination and objectifications of society and individual & social abandonment and fleeting feelings of “belonging” and longings of a place you want to call home. Students have used mediums such and miniature paintings, drawings & etchings, sculpture, oil paintings, installations and projection mapping to express their ideas.

The thesis campaign has been designed by our own students of 3rd year Bachelor of Design, Fabiha Sanaullah, Mehak Kashif, Hoorain Ilahi who made the vision for the show a reality.

The colors and theme of the show for this year revolves around the celebration of impact, Naqsh (نقش), creative and humanistic imprints of past and present creatives while preparing for future legacies. The watermelon color palette of the campaign represents our voice for human struggles against cruelty and oppression.
