What happens in one’s childhood does not remain in childhood. Positive parenting is vital for children in order to avoid risk of negative outcomes, such as broken personalities, relationship troubles, aggression, depression and anxiety, as they grow older. The established positive parenting style is Authoritative Parenting. It is characterized by balance between love and discipline. Children’s emotional physical, social and cognitive development is largely dependent on relationship with their parents. The world today is technology and data driven and mainly focused on preparing children for future careers. Life skills are equally important tools for development as they teach children to make use of acquired knowledge in real world situations be it academic, professional or personal. Decision making, resilience and communication skills are not innate but learned. My thesis is set to enrich the parent-child relationship and help parents equip their children with essential life skills to meet everyday life challenges and lead a fulfilling life.
