Language and culture define who we are from even before we can speak. They give us identity and a sense of self awareness. Unfortunately, culture and language take a back seat as generations grow. Heaps of information is buried along with our ancestors who once held the information about our true identity and history. Pashto is a language that has suffered losses. The loss of its history and the loss of information about where it originated from due to the lack of documentation in its early years. Some people are not lucky enough to have their parents and grandparents communicating with them in their native languages. Hearing someone use a native phrase, asking them what it means and unconsciously inculcating it in the way you speak is a privilege not many have. As a result, language and culture start fading slowly but surely. Being a pathan myself and not having a single Pashto book on my shelf that I could relate to or understand was my driving force to make this project.
