Industrial Visit – Silver Lake Foods LIMITED
The Department of Mechanical Engineering arranged an industrial visit to the Silver Lake Food Limited (Kims Food) plant for undergraduate students of the 6th semester on May 18, 2023.
The students were warmly welcomed and given a presentation on a brief introduction of plant history, manufacturing products, production unit and its capacity, research & development, and the aspect of commercialization along with some of the future endeavors of Silver Lake Food Limited (Kims Food) by the In-charge Quality Control and Assurance Department, Mr. Muhammad Ahmed.
The students visited different plants etc., chocolate manufacturing plant, Candy and Toffee manufacturing plant, and cupcake, biscuits, and wafers manufacturing plant where they learned about the different types of ingredients and their specifications, crushing, melting, and mixing of these ingredients, parceling, heating and cooling processes, settling units, and different rolling processes.
During the visit, students had a fruitful interactive question-answer session with Silver Lake Foods Plant experts in which they discussed the roles of a Mechanical Engineer in this industry. Students acknowledged the emergence of a multidisciplinary stream and the importance of Automation and Electromechanical systems in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
